For those of you still looking for tickets, I just grabbed a pair for Louisville on Ticketmaster. They released some great seats in the center Orchestra section this afternoon and there were still some available when I checked a few minutes ago. I read that tickets have also been released for Memphis, but I didn't try to pull any up on the Ticketmaster site. So, if you were shut out of any of the upcoming shows, you might want to keep trying.

I had originally planned on just going to Nashville, but I couldn't pass up the Louisville tickets when I saw them.

detroit setlist:

Circus
Trampled Rose
Lost At The Bottom Of The World
Sins Of The Father
Shake It

Murder In The Red Barn

A great show. Heavy on the newer material but that was somewhat expected. With Waits, does it really matter?

I'll post a short review later.

Christmas Card from a Hooker is one of my favorite Waits songs.

Personally i would love to see him do Come On Up to the House which is the song that originally got me listening to him.

Yeah the line in Christmas Card about the car lot just gives me chills. He has several songs that if i'm listening to them in headphones so i'm just concentrating on the lyrics with no distractions they will move me to tears. Christmas Card and Come on up to the House are both songs like that.

UPdated for 2008. From Pitchfork:

Tom Waits Planning Summer Tour

Septuplets, full solar eclipses, and Tom Waits tours: some things just don't come around too often. Lucky for us, 2008 is shaping up to be a favorable year, once which will see the elusive Mr. Waits grace stages across the U.S. and Europe.

According to report in "webpaper" The Washington Independent and confirmed by Waits' camp, the gravel-voiced one is in the process of putting together summer tours of the aforementioned locales. No dates just yet, but to be on the safe side, you probably want to start lining up outside your local ticket vendor now.

Waits last toured in August 2006, and people enjoyed it very much.

And hey, that Scarlett Johansson album! Word is it's better than you think.

I caught him in Louisville last time round. and in Seattle back in 2004 when that was the only US date.
He is amazing, and I will see him no matter how far I have to drive or fly.
HOPEFULLY though, it will be a nice tour with several dates in the midwest.

And I actually thought the Johansson album would be pretty good. Shes very talented.

I'm pretty interested in the Johansson album too... word David Bowie is included in a backup vocal or two automatically ups the "cool" factor by about 1000 percent for me. Could be pretty cool stuff and maybe even turn a few of the people onto Tom's own stuff...

This girl can do anything, IMO. She's an excellent singer and I can't wait to here her sing "Falling Down" (which is, right now, my favorite Waits song).

What is this Scarlet album people are talking about? Is she covering Tom Waits song? Is it an album done with him? What is the connection?

It's a cover album including one original. She also duets with Bowie on a couple of songs on the album.
