Problems with All of MP3, All Tunes??
Further to the other post re: all tunes... the website is fine. If you keep on getting "socket error 10061" when you try to log on, your firewall settings need changing.
Click start.. control panel...windows firewall.... and then set them to default!
If you can't access windows firewall because of an "unknown problem" go to aumha.org/a/quickfix.php and follow the prompts.

Every time I try to refill my balance I get an error message that says the site is unable to accept credit cards or debit cards. Does anyone know when or if they will start accepting them again?

When did they stop taking Xrost? I bought one a little before Christmas and used it no problem. That sucks. Since they are probably going to be getting shut down sooner rather than later, I wasn't really planning on putting too much more money into it anyway.

It's just a way around the mulberry bush.
Unfortunately, Xrost has been down for a while now, saying they are taking 48 hours to update their server or something like that, but everything I've read on other boards and blogs suggest Xrost is down for the count, perhaps another unjustified victim of the RIAA?
I've been searching for another Russian site, but nothing I've found comes close to what allofmp3.com had to offer. I just used up my last few cents last weekend, and have been trying to figure out a way to refill my balance on there.

For those of you wanting to continue ordering music from this great site...
http://www.songboom.com/
They sell gift certificates you can use on allofmp3.com. They do charge a small fee, so it's better to get the 25.00 certificate for 32.99...It still equals getting great music for a low price.
I used this site quite apprehensively, and I was quite happy with the turn around (you have to wait a day or two to get your certificate) and you can pay via pay pal.
I presume somebody in Europe who can get the certificates is selling them for a fee. Not a bad deal for them, I suppose!
And, yes, allofmp3.com is still up and running. I noticed they raised their rates just a little, but still beats many other sites hands down.

Thanks Calhoun!
I've filled so many back catalogues with allofmp3.com it's not even funny. But seriously, the fact that the RIAA is giving them so much shit makes me want to support them even more.

This is really bad news, folks...I can't access the site at this time. I had about nine dollars left on my gift certificate too...
This article indicates they give the site until June, but it is looking like it got shut down early. I guess the songs I downloaded earlier tonight may be the last I will get. If it does come back up, I am finishing my last nine bucks and cleaning my hands of this site. There are other Russian sites that aren't getting blasted by the American site that also offer low priced downloads. And, quite honestly, I don't see the legality issues of it...if it's legal in Russia, then it's legal. If the artists aren't getting compensated, then that's another issue entirely, but I don't see why they should shut them down. Hell, I'd still download from them if it was a quarter a song so the artists could get some kick backs too.

TONY EASTLEY: One of the world's most popular music download sites is fighting for its life.
AllofMP3.com offers free downloads of hundreds of thousands of songs, and when there is a cost, it's very, very cheap.
The site is based in Russia, where it meets that country's legal requirements. But critics, including the United States Government, say AllofMP3.com flouts intellectual property rights, and it must go.
The ABC's Moscow Correspondent, Emma Griffiths, reports that manoeuvring on world trade deals may eventually kill off the music site.
(Excerpt of a Beatles' song, I Want To Hold Your Hand)
EMMA GRIFFITHS: The latest Beatles' compilation has been a big seller around the world. On AllofMP3.com, this song costs just 15 cents to download. The whole CD is going for $4.50.
The legendary band has never given permission for its songs to be sold online. Yet, here they are. AllofMP3.com has copied the Beatles' CDs onto its site.
It wouldn't be legal in Australia, Britain or the United States. But AllofMP3 has the same with thousands of songs, and it's transformed the site into a multi-million dollar business with customers all over the world.
Spokesman Ilya Levitov.
IIYA LEVITOV: Our popularity started from Australia actually. Yeah, there was an expert somewhere said that probably it's legal for Australian users to download songs from AllofMP3.com website, and after that we had thousands of customers from Australia.
And then, you know, it went all over the internet and everybody knew that there is a legal service where you can download a song for, you know, for 15 cents. So, that's the start of the actual business.
EMMA GRIFFITHS: But not surprisingly, AllofMP3.com isn't popular with artists. Russian musician, Shurer, (phonetic) from the band Bedava says they've lost millions of dollars in royalties because of the site.
SHURER: We lost a lot of money. Like, for example, we spent about $100,000 for the production of the album. Then same amount of money for the film clips, and the record label spent.
And next day, pirate, the person just stole your money and how we're going to ... we have to ... this money returned to us.
EMMA GRIFFITHS: They may never see that money, but AllofMP3.com could be about to sound its final note. The United States and Russia have signed a long-awaited trade agreement. Part of the deal is to shut down AllofMP3.
The American Government has described it as the world's biggest music pirate. Russia has promised to change its intellectual property laws this June. Its bid to join the World Trade Organisation is at stake.

AllofMP3.com Is Back Online
Allofmp3The Russian government promised the U.S. that it would do something about AllofMP3 as part of the criteria for its entry into the World Trade Organization. (AllofMP3 claims to be legal under Russian law because it pays royalties to a Russian collection society, but with Russia trying to join the WTO, American interests have a new way to exert copyright pressure.)
Earlier today, it appeared that the Russians had finally pulled the plug on the cut-rate MP3 store, with TechCrunch reporting that the site had been down for 8 consecutive hours.
The site is now back online, for the moment anyway, although users in America might have to resort to some fairly tricky manuevers in order to deposit money into their accounts.

I've been downloading from mp3stor.com. Some artists are lacking on selection, others have a lot more, and they also have some great bootleg material you can't find at allofmp3.com. MP3sugar.com is also supposed to be good...I liked their site, but since I was able to use VISA at mp3stor.com and also get some free bonus money when I joined, I went with them.
My main beef with these other sites is you have no control over the bit rate. Granted, you rarely find a song at 128 bit rate at mp3stor.com, but downloading at 320 on most CDs limits the number of songs you can download. It seems they fix the bit rates so all their CDs are right around 2.00. Still a helluva deal.

Boy, those trade rep tigers sure showed them Russkies a thing or two.
It's a good thing there are absolutely no competitors out there. For example, the exact same company under the exact same DBA and a new URL....

Russia shuts down Allofmp3.com
Tony Halpin, Moscow
The music download website whose activities threatened to scupper Russia's entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has been shut down.
The site, Allofmp3.com, was quietly closed as the Kremlin sought to end criticism from the United States that Russia was failing to clamp down on music and video piracy.
However, an alternative site run by the same Moscow company has already emerged. MediaServices says that mp3Sparks.com is legal under Russian law, using many of the same arguments advanced in support of allofmp3.com.
...
Susan Schwab, the US Trade Representative, singled out allofmp3.com during talks last year on Russian membership of the WTO and said that closure was a non-negotiable condition of entry.
...
The Mp3Sparks.com site looks virtually identical and claims to offer thousands of albums by popular artists for around 15 US cents per song. Bon Jovi's latest disc, for example, was on offer for $2.11.

I'd be hardpressed to choose who has *less* credibility in that fight.
