Allofmp3.com dead?
I haven't been able to d/l for the last few days and now the site won't come up. Too bad. Great way to sample artists, one of the reasons why I bought the new Snow Patrol CD.

"The 13th of May Allofmp3.com was closed for server maintenance. Currently the website is completely down.
We don't now what is happening. The strange thing is that other sites like MP3Search.ru or Mp3Sugar are also unreachable.
Looks like something is going on. We will bring more news as soon as we have some information."

http://www.mp3search.ru/ is still up - but all the image links are broken... hmmm. http://mp3spy.ru/ still seems to be working. Not that I use either of those sites; I only started using allofmp3 about 2 months back.
I hope it's not some vast Russian music downloading lockdown/explosion. I still have about $9 credit at allofmp3.com!

Crud. I have about $12 left to spend.
I tried to open AllTunes, the program that works with AllofMp3, and it said socket error #10061, connection refused.
Usually the site goes down for maintenace for a couple of hours daily. That's the message I got last night.
Now, I get 'cannot find server'.
Grrrr.

Read on another site
"They are currently being sued again, but more importantly, it looks as though US Congress has mentioned that the site should be shut down before allowing Russia to enter the WTO. That's pretty amazing if you ask me. Search at news.google.com for more info."
Strange that the US government would take such an interest in a single site, especially at such a magnitude, but if that's the case, it's gone.
If you have money left with them, I'd start chargebacks and Paypal challenges.

Shut the site down before they can join the WTO? Interesting.....
Let's say I start a Paypal chargeback and they do actually come back in the next couple days. Is that a big deal?

It definitely looks like they're gone at this point. I found several aritcles about the issue on Google News. Time until another site starts up in a country that isn't pursuing WTO membership: about 5 seconds.

Well it was a great ride for a few yrs. I'd recently used up my balance at both, glad I didn't add more.
I had actually recently decided to start buying cd's again, so this is no biggie - actually it makes me feel better.

I'm gonna stay hopefully optimistic and put a little faith in the Russian crimelords... (and if they do come back, start downloading like a mother f**ker!)

"I'm all for disrupting the RIAA's and MPAA' rather antiquated business model but I fail to see how "buying" music through a channel where none of the money goes to the artists themselves will do so."
Yikes.

Russian authorities are (for the moment) denying that they had anything to do with it. There's a small chance it will come back up.
