sorry to have to add to this thread, but was looking through the voice concert listings..wtf is wrong with people that they had to add a second show at hammerstein cause her first show sold out....why is there a demand to see her live at all, i don't understand society anymore.

Being around my 13 year old niece and her friends I feel fairly qualified to answer this. Basically she's the flavor of the month for kids who think that if you are the sister of someone who's famous, you are talented.

wow - not only is she terrible at performing live, she's gotten quite fat.

[edit]: I take that back - I looked into it and she's always been fat.

Also - quit complaining that this thread needs to go away - just stop visiting it if you aren't interested. I'm fascinated with things like this - untalented people getting undeserved praise and recognition. It speaks volumes about our society, radio and television, and the music industry in general.

I'm also glad to find all this stuff out because I was not completely hating some of her songs and I thought there was something wrong with me - and then I was very relieved to discover that she didn't write/produce/sing or have much of anything to do with their creation. Oddly enough - I read somewhere that when she was asked to write songs, she was given a tape with beats on it from other famous bands (one was a band I was in). I think I'd like to see her die in a california mudslide courtesy of tubgirl.

And the excuses start rollin' in...at least it wasn't the band this time..

ASHLEE SPEAKS: Acid reflux wasn't to blame for Ashlee Simpson's heavily panned performance at last week's Orange Bowl. The embattled teenybopper says a combination of technical difficulties and her pro-USC stance may have led to the chorus of boos. "There were no ear monitors when we went on stage," she told MTV.com. "And trying to sing in a stadium where you can't hear yourself is kinda hard." Or... "maybe they were booing at me, maybe they were booing at the halftime show, 'cause the whole thing sucked," she added. "I was facing [the Oklahoma Sooners], and I was rooting for USC, and they played a clip of it, so maybe it was that those people didn't like me." Actually, I think it was the scoreboard they didn't like.

I don't understand, if you look at the vid, her ear monitors are around her neck instead of in her ears, and there is also a big white floor monitor in front of her.

boy that did sound terrible, was the background singer the "voice track"? since that didn't even sound like the album version (no i don't own the album but i have heard enough of it on mtv hits and that shampoo commerical to know what it sounds like)
also is the term "french maid" so offensive that she had to change it? (its in the video "i'll be your lemonaid????

Agreed. I looked the lyrics up on Lyrics.com and the French maid line is one of the least controversial lines in the whole song ("I'll be a French maid when I greet you at the door.") I would think "You can throw me like a line-man, I like it better when it hurts" would be the one that would raise red flags, but I guess it does have a football theme.

And the French maid line isn't the only one they changed. "You make me wanna la la, in the kitchen on the floor. I'll be a French maid when I meet you at the door" is now "You make me wanna la la, in the kitchen, in the store. I'll bring you lemonaid when I greet you at the door."

I guess doing in a store is somehow more accenptable in ABC's eyes than in the privacy of your own home. Maybe I'll find the nearest Disney store and test out their theory.

Actually, I would think if the network was really that worried about it, maybe they'd have ask Simpson to sing a song that wasn't entirely about getting fucked and fucked hard. But hey, that's just me. It's the single she was shilling at the time and what the record company wants, the record company gets.

I'm more offended by the phrase "la la".

What, this is all that is left to replace talk of "doing it"...la la?

I understand shes no lyrical master but damn.

Let it die. Please!

Ashlee Simpson is a no-talent whore who does not deserve a 6-page thread in music talk. At least move it to other if you feel the need to continue glorifying her.

Look, if this thread is bothering you so much, quit coming into it and repeatedly posting thread craps. It's as simple as that.

And you must have a strange definition of "glorifying."

Threadcraps? since when did this turn into a pro-Ashlee Simpson thread?

And you must have a strange definition of "glorifying."

Well, all you have done is pretty much come in here and told people to stop talking about her and bitched about how long this discussion is.

Other than that, you have contributed nothing to the discussion.

Pretty much the definition of a threadcrap.

In fact, here is the actual definition of threadcrap penned by Static Cling, from DVD Talk's informational thread on the subject, found here:

So, in other words, if you don't like the subject of this thread, please go away. The rest of us are enjoying piling on the talentless bitch when she's down.
