Down at the Astoria the scene was changing,
Bingo and rock were pushing out X-rating,
We were the first band to vomit in the bar,
And find the distance to the stage too far,
Meanwhile it's getting late at ten o'clock,
Rock is dead they say,
Long live rock.

I saw Chuck Berry perform barely two years ago. Cameras installed in women's restrooms are most certainly still alive.

Rock and Roll is not dead, has never BEEN dead, and will never die.
However it is currently being throttled by corporate whores and musical bilge.
That will change, again, when the time is right. In the meantime, you have to look a little harder for good new rock and go with what you know. Suck up & deal.

I listen to rock radio these days and it doesn't sound like rock n roll anymore to me, it's all these alternative and grunge sounding bands where the guy is standing in one place mumbling at his shoe about how depressed and angst filled they are in that annoying played out "eerrr eerrrr" 90's grunge style vocals. Audioslave, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Smile Empty Soul, Shinedown, Seether, Chevelle, Nickleback, Perfect Circle and on and on... they are all so dull and boring to me. There's no rock stars, no guitar heros, it's just boring.
I'm not saying everything should go back to the 80's, but at least they had the right idea. even if you hated Motley Crue, you knew who they were because they were rock n roll stars. If you ran into the bass player for Puddle of Mudd or the drummer of Smile Empty Soul at the store would you or anyone recognize them? and if they did, would anyone care?
There's alot of cool new bands that play fun real rock, Wildhearts, Fireball Ministry, American Hi Fi, Donnas, Jet, The Darkness, Butch Walker, SR-71, and then tho I'm not too into them, yes.. The Vines & White Stripes... I wish rock radio would play more stuff like The Darkness and Jet and get their heads out of the 90's. I can't stand to hear Chris Cornell mumble really slow about he's not a wheel but a highway anymore. Boring!
Why is it 2004 and everything on the radio sounds like 1993 grunge? that would be like in 1994 if everything on the radio still sounding like Krokus and Autograph. Seriously, it's time to move on.

oops. And you know, I had to look at the pic and think for a few seconds before I realized what I typed.
