green day: 1039 smoothed out slappy hours back in 1990. my then girlfriends best friend promptly dropped that treasured cd while we were at lunch one day at school. i just about had a heart attack right then and there, i didn't have a whole lot of money back in high school to be able to replace that thing.
well the cd is still on my shelf, and still plays great, but the girlfriend is long gone, and her best friend is now my wife. i still hold that incident over her head to this day...

The day my mother bought the households first CD player we (my sister and I) were allowed to buy one CD each. I ended up picking Iron Maiden - Live After Death IIRC it had just been released. Still have it to this day.

First CD was the Goo Goo Dolls "Hold Me Up".
The first album I ever bought (with my own money) was KISS "Double Platinum".
First record I owned I think was either a Beach Boys album or Shawn Cassidy.

When I got my first cd player I took my LP of RUSH "POWER WINDOWS" and traded it for the CD version.
I know RUSH would sound AWESOME on cd.

Let's see my first CD player was purchased with money my aunt gave me while visiting. ABC Wherehouse, Sony boombox, detachable speakers, black -- $249.00 loved this thing (still love Sony CD players too)! Got it in 1990, eventually my sister and brother tore the thing up.
My first CD was Mariah Carey's self-titled debut, Mariah Carey. Sadly for many, many years I used my CDs as coasters basically - I destroyed lots of them being careless what a waste of money.
Can barely remember my first cassette purchase, I remember borrowing so many cassettes from my friends before having enough money to by my own. I think it was Scritti Politti, Cupid and Psyche 85. I just listened to it a few weeks ago.

I got my first player when they were introduced in the early eighties and it's been so long I don't remember what was in that first hand full of discs that I bought.
I think Journey, Dire Straits and Boston may have been included.
