What the heck is in the water in Omaha these days? A hip scene in Omaha? WTF?

I just finished listening to Bright Eyes' newish one and the new Cursive, two Omaha based bands. Fantastic stuff, people.

I live 300 east of Omaha and have never heard of those bands. Actually I have never heard anyone use the term "hip scene" either.

The last two cursive albums have been lame. Saddle Creek, or whatever the label is, has just done a good job acting like it has a good music scene. There are decent bands in many cities. I don't care about the hype a city gets, I care about how the music is that a band puts out.

Don't worry about Omaha, or as the kids call it, Emoha.

Don't forget about The Faint - IMHO, Saddle Creek's (and Omaha's) best band at the moment.
Danse Macabre is magnificent. And if you like them, they're on a national tour in about a week!

Definitely, The Faint is one of my favorite bands. They are completely awesome, and live is an incredible experience.

Going to watch them this saturday (4/26) at numbers houston! whoooo

Ironicly used out-of-date terminology is the bee's knees.

In other news, I pity the fool who thinks the new Cursive is "incredibly bad".

Nah, they probably spent their money on something good like Desperiatidaots.
