Is that a joke?

You are thinking of Nena the pop star. Nina Simone was a jazz musician that peformed, "Love Me or Leave Me," "Mississippi Goddamn," "I Put a Spell On You," and, "Lilac Wine" (covered by Jeff Buckley). You really ought to check out some of her music: its timeless.

-edited to add this related note-

This is especially strange considering I have "i put a spell on you..." written in my AIM profile.

how about "My Baby Just Cares for Me" which was used in the old Chanel commercials from the 80's. My favorite was her version of "I Loves You Porgy"

I have a couple of her CD's. I can't count the number of evenings where it was just me, Nina on the stereo, and a couple of gin and tonics. Great, great jazz musician.

Nina Simone was one of my first introductions to the world of Jazz music. She had an amazing voice that will be greatly missed.
