I agree, VERY good CD, maybe the best of 2001. Not 1 "skip" track (I'm pretty sure I mentioned that earlier in this thread). But while your at it, pick up his earlier stuff too. Slaughtahouse & Sittin' On Chrome

I mainly like Rakim, Kool Keith(Any personallity is fine by me), and Big L. Hip-hop is slumping in a MAJOR way. I can't believe so many people list Jay-z and Nas lol, garbage rappers doing it for the money.

wow, almost 5 pages and i haven't seen anyone mention mobb deep! of course "shook ones pt. 2" made them, but "the infamous" was one of the last true gangsta albums.

also gotta mention raekwon and gza, they deserve recognition aside from the wu.

G.O.D. Father Part 3 is one of my favorite Mobb Deep songs.

On another note, damn I love Slick Rick's The Art Of Storytellin.

Anyone know when his new one will drop?

This will probably be bashed, as it's most certainly more 'nerdy' than the Nerd Rap listed in here, but Buck 65 is probably the most interesting MC I can think of in recent times... probably because he doesn't really fall into what most perceive as hip-hop. I bring this up only because he hasn't been listed, and I didn't really want to spend a whole lot of time agreeing with a good portion of what's been mentioned in here.

I'm pretty impressed with Field Mob these days.
They've got a humour and playfulness that recalls old Digital Underground, plus slammin' beats.
On a slightly more serious tip, I like Slum Village as well.

Jay-Z and Nas used to be excellent, that's why they're mentioned.

MF Doom & Madlib's "MadVillian" is hotness, I hope it gets released soon. I'm also anxious to hear the Victor Vaughn album.

1 good album each to me does not constitute being named. I mean 36 Chambers was a badass album but, the Wu-Tang suck now. That is why they did not get mentioned. See what I am saying?

I always liked Poor Righteous Teachers. Now if i could ever find a cd of theirs to replace the ones i lost years ago.

As for now i also chime in on Deltron, Dead Prez, The Coupe, The Roots, Tribe Called Quest, and i'll add Saul Williams to the list - even though whether he is hip-hop or not could be debated. Also, i really liked Me Phi Me when he came out years ago - the kind of acoustic guitar with rhythmis lyrics was interesting.

And finally - I'm all about MC Frontalot (www.frontalot.com)

Woah now, Wu-Tang had a little more than "1 good album."

Nas & Wu have both had more than I good album. Have you heard It Was Written or God's Son? How about Iron Flag or any of Ghost's & GZA's solo albums?

I guess your just one of the many mainstream haters.

I have on CD #163 & 277 The Original Sugar Hill Gang (Kory-O, Wonder Mike, and Big Bank Hank) and their first hit "Rappers Delight" in 1979. I was roller skating until my 1985 accident, in the mean time I had Grand Master Flash and Mel Mel rap about "White Lines", Crash Crew, The Mean Machine, Kevie Kev, The Treacherous Three and The West Sreet Mob then there was the Double Dutch Bus, an on and a on till the break of dawn YO.

P.S. I still have them all on 2 Rhino CD!

I was not counting solo albums. The Wu-Tang as a group had 1 good album. Wu-Tang Forever took forever to make and was not worth it. Iron Flag just sucked, and sucked hard. Nas had illmatic, and a few good songs on It was written, after that it was all just music to make music. I am not saying the dude doesn't have talent but what I am saying is he is making commercial music just to get paid. Atleast that's how I feel about it. Also Jay-Z's the Blueprint sucked. HOVA, lol. If I had a catchphrase I could sell a million albums too.

I agree Rob Raider and DJ Rectangle make awesome music. When I used to DJ I had a ton of break stuff from them and the guys you listed.

Also, JNielsen just because some people's first albums are better than the rest does not make them sellouts or make them suck, I agree with you. However most of the time it just turns out that way, what can you do. Just keep looking out for the great ones that trancend music like Rakim, Kool Keith, Big L, etc........

That really doesn't make sense, even disregarding the fact that Wu-Tang Forever is great.
