True, have not yet attended an ATP. But, for Coachella, it's the total package. The music, the venue, the experience.

And like Hixx said...that sunset is amazing.

Re: Coachella Streaming Live APR 15-17 YouTube

Wasn't sure if this needed it's own thread so threw it in here:

http://www.coachella.com/

We're excited to announce Coachella 2012 will be held over TWO WEEKENDS.

In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people.

We know many of you were unable to attend this year's festival because passes sold out much sooner than anticipated. We were truly surprised by the overwhelming response and remain honored by your passion and enthusiasm. We also know some of you purchased through non legitimate sources and were inconvenienced, gouged or totally scammed. We hope that these changes will give everyone the opportunity to purchase directly from Coachella.com.

Passes go on sale beginning this Friday, June 3rd, 2011, at 10am PST until the following Friday June 10th, 2011, at 10pm PST.
This advance sale will be the only opportunity to take advantage of the Coachella Payment Plan. Passes will be available through a payment plan of 10% down and 8 equal monthly payments OR by payment in full. The price of three-day passes remains at $269 plus fees for the sixth consecutive year.

Coachella Weekend 1 - April 13-15, 2012 | Coachella Weekend 2 - April 20-22, 2012

That's probably a good idea with the amount of people and acts.
They really did a good job of streaming. Lets hope they do it again.
Would be nice to have a few more streams as well.

Coachella 2012

I'll be going on Friday. That's a hell of a one day lineup. The other two days aren't as impressive to me.

ATDI and Refused!!! I will try to attend this just for those two. How much are weekend passes typically?

The only band I'd even consider watching is Godspeed, and even then it's pretty meh.

Firehose is back together?

The Black Keys headlining tells me all I need to know. Are they really that big? Much rather see the Shins headlining. Day 2 would be the only day I'd be interested in.

Rumor is that Black Sabbath was booked as a headliner, however due to Iommi's recent diagnosis they bumped up The Black Keys to the new headliner.

Coming from someone named "The Black" I'll assume you know what you're talking about concerning these two groups.

I read for 2012, GA Passes are $285 + Service Charges + Camp/Car Fees + Shipping.

I won't lie, I'm interested in about 15 acts, but mainly Refused and Atari Teenage Riot. The cost to just get into Cochella is a little much for my blood.

Also the year where both Portishead and Faith No More played Cochella, I kicked myself for missing them. Flash to now and both bands went on tour and I saw both.

That's probably one of the weakest festival lineups I've ever seen.

Jesus Christ! Ok, I'm probably not going. That plus plane tickets make too rich for my blood, especially since I'm only interested in ATDI, Refused, and a couple other groups.

I'd love to see Sub Focus and Noisia. Sub Focus' Essential mix from 2009 is one of the best sets I've heard in the last 20 years...

Re: Coachella 2012

Got my ticket. Going second weekend. Nearest hotel I could book that didn't require a three or four night stay was 30 miles away!! Luckily it looks like several friends are going the same weekend and I can work something out to stay with them.

If you want to hitch a ride to San Francisco, they are playing five nights in a row in 2012.

04/15 – Big Sur, CA @ Fernwood Resort
04/16 – San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall
04/17 – San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall
04/18 – San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall
04/19 – San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall
04/20 – San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall

I just have a feeling those two bands will not limited their U.S dates to just Coachella. Too much (easy) money to be had.

Faith No More and Portishead both played reunion shows for Coachella and then eventually did U.S tours of different lengths. Also if I'm not mistaken At The Gates reunited at a festival and ended up doing a tour in the U.S as well. The same applies to Carcass.
