This movie had a lot going for it and it still failed. I strongly believe this is the start of the 6th Sense curse. The plot twist was so stupid it betrayed the first 2/3 of the movie. I think we will see a lot more of these insulting just for the shock plot twists in the future. The example of aliens zapping Emma Thompson in some period piece is perfect it makes absolutly no sense.I strongly urge people not to support this flick and wait for the dvd.

Engaging, relentless, expertly acted and directed;
Along Came A Spider has it all! Monica Potter is a
Secret Service agent who becomes overly attached to
her charges: students at an elite private school.
When a kook kidnaps a senator’s daughter, Potter
enlists the aid of expert psycho-profiler Alex Cross, played once again by the ever-talented Morgan Freeman. That’s where my plot description ends!

The rest of my review is dedicated to the manner in
which the James Patterson novel has been eloquently
adapted for the silver screen. It was originally
planned for Paramount Pictures to bring Along Came
A Spider to the screen before kiss the girls. Unfortunately, due to creative differences between
the author and various screenwriters, the second of
the Alex Cross novels, kiss the girls, made its way
to the box office first. Understand, for those of
you whom have not read the book, the tone and
overall mood of Along Came A Spider is radically
different than that of kiss the girls. I, by no
means, consider this to be a weakness, but rather
a blessing. The manner in which the clues are
delivered through various degrees of suspenseful
filmmaking techniques are outstanding. And yes,
you will be talking about the film’s final thirty
minutes long after the house lights have come up.

The performances are first-rate. Morgan Freeman
and Monica Potter deliver stellar performances.
Definitely run out and see Along Came A Spider
before some goofball spoils it for you. The word
on the street in Hollywood is that Morgan Freeman
is prepared to play Alex Cross one final time.
Let’s hope this project starts shooting soon!

I saw it last night and I didnt like it.

I felt no tension in the whole movie. None, nada, zilch. If yu take out the tension all you have is a blah story, and the plot twist wasnt even that suprising.

Saw this last night. It was awful. I feel really bad for Margan Freeman for taking this role with such a bad script. About half of the audience left with about 20 minutes remaining, and I don't blame them. All the plot "twists" were a joke. I thought Kiss The Girls was okay, but this was just bad. Definitly not recommended.

Lurker, I agree 100%. I even said as much to my wife while we were watching the film.

Watched this for the first time tonight on showtime. I didn't think it was really horrible except for one thing. Its yet another movie that has the case solved by someone magically guessing the password ON THE FIRST TRY to a password protected computer. Come on, thats just rediculous. And he knew enough to use a '&' instead of typing out the word 'and'.

Also, the ending was bogus too really. At the start of the movie the kidnapper guy clearly is outside the gate prior to anyone alerting security to the fact that anything is wrong (by a couple seconds) - we see him wave to the gate guard and pull out - the next scene shows Potter finding the strangled body. Then at the end, Morgan "cracks the case" by noticing the alerted guard didn't shut down the gate when first alerted. Thats cause the guy was already outside the gate!! They either mis-shot the beginning or ran out of ideas on how to clue Morgan into the guard.

Morgan Freeman is too laid back and no chemistry with Monica Potter.

The whole running with the ransom and getting telephone calls on the way was almost a scene by scene ripoff of Dirty Harry. Was that also done in High and Low?

The first time I saw this was last night on Showtime-HD. I wasn't impressed. I didn't think Kiss the Girls was all that either. Morgan Freeman as usual was awesome even in crap and Monica Potter was hot.
