I don't like how plastic his armor looks.

Overall, a very underwhelming teaser. By the way, both the IMAX and studio uploads of the teaser were horribly compressed.

I don't think it looks like plastic at all. Looks shiny and chrome.

Re: The Odyssey (2026, D: Nolan)

There's a simplicity I've noticed in not only some of the costumes(which I think was a source of online criticism) but also the wide shots themselves. There will I'm sure be moments of ornate detail (armor, environments) but so far with such a wide canvas I feel like there's an attempt to keep things focused and to not have a lot of things within the frame competing for attention.

It’s early footage and doesn’t really tell anything. But some promising looking visuals and costumes.

I like the stylistic choices for the costumes. Monochrome, sharp edges and angles, etc. I've seen pictures of the ones from the time period and they're quite the opposite. Round, dull edges and angles, etc. For a film, I don't give a shit about functionality, I just want it to look cool, and it does. All the armchair historians are frothing at the mouth over it. Losers.

I understand armchair historians, but what about actual historians with a PhD. Are they also losers if they complain?

I personally wouldn't call them losers, but ultimately, why does it matter? It's interesting enough as an observation, but actually complaining about it seems silly. If the movie works on its own terms then who cares? It's not a historical reference book.

I don't mind the costumes as long as the Cyclops & Scylla are historically accurate.

They're not losers, but they are nerds.

Don't even bother, they haven't cast James Marsden.

That's a bit dismissive. I don't have a PhD , but I know several people who do and they all admit that it's a very cumbersome process to obtain that degree. I think to dismiss them as "nerds" is a bit disrespectful to what they have accomplished.

On the contrary, I think most of them would admit that they are nerds.

This has pissed a lot of people off

I guess we know Nolan must be a John Landis apologist if he casts this moron.

Must be. I don't think there's any other conclusion one could reach.

Had to look him up. Some rapper that I never heard of before. I didn't spot anything akin to John Landis and The Twilight Zone (which I assume you are referencing). Care to explain why this guy matters?

His Astroworld concert resulted in multiple people dying due to he and his team not having better security and the show being oversold.

Multiple people yelled at him to stop his performance as people were being trampled to death but he kept the show going even as ambulances showed up.

Left the show when done and claimed he didn’t know anything happened. He and some people close to him deleted their social media posts for the day that might have had evidence of negligence.

Came in here to comment on this as well - a lot of people don't like this. My thought was that he was never in a film before, but I looked it up and saw that he was. Still weird though.

Re: The Odyssey (2026, D: Nolan)

I don't know if this changed, but a bit ago, Nolan allegedly didn't have a smart phone or even use email. So maybe he doesn't even know that this happened. Nolan doesn't strike me as the type to keep up with music festival news.

Re: The Odyssey (2026, D: Nolan)

Whether or not Nolan knew of the concert incident (which happened in 2021), Travis did the end credit song to Tenet (which came out in 2020), so he's worked with him before to know he wanted him for this part.

Re: The Odyssey (2026, D: Nolan)

Nolan made an appearance on Colbert last night to debut the above trailer. I am guessing he made his promotional appearance now because sadly, Colbert will be off the air by the time Odyssey hits theaters.

Re: The Odyssey (2026, D: Nolan)

It’s honestly kind of strange that Pattinson is speaking with an American accent.

I kind of understand why Holland isn’t so he matches Damon but Pattinson not using his normal accent just seems weird.
