And as mentioned in that thread... it didn't make the shortlist, so this isn't unexpected.

I'm fine with them going byebye. They could save time by just running a 5 minute reel of song clips

I'm on board with The Brutalist and Conclave for Score, but Challengers getting shutout is ridiculous.

Very happy to see Fargeat get in for Director.

The Golden Globes really raised the profile of I'm Still Here.

Emilia Perez having the same amount of nominations as Oppenheimer last year is just insane to me.

Sean Fennissey predicted Stan for The Apprentice on his Big Picture podcast last week. I thought 'No way', but as they mentioned, Hollywood is going through some things right now, so maybe it makes sense with that on their mind. The score for Challengers getting snubbed is maybe the biggest shock to me. It was incredible. At least Trent and Atticus have won before.
So happy for Monica Barbaro. She's so great in that movie and her singing voice is incredible-- she never sang before. Three of the five Supporting Actress nominees are musical performances.
I'm surprised but not disappointed that A Real Pain didn't make the BP10. I know almost nothing about I'm Still Here, guess I need to check it out.
Will finally see The Brutalist on Saturday night.

Fuck that. I love the song performances most years. This was a particularly bad year for Song. My guess is Sir Elton is done performing live and the Emilia Perez actors (who are not professional singers) don't want to sing live, understandably, so there wasn't a point in doing it.

They could have hired one singer to perform all nominated songs. I think Roberta Flack did that once.

Of course they are and this is the only way to bring that picture that bombed back into light.
I hope he wins  that will be really entertaining.

That is a very competitive Best Animated Feature category! I juuuuust want to give it to Flow, but barely.

Feel the same way for Conclave

That's odd. Conclave is a pretty traditional Oscar-bait film. Old fashioned, well made, pretty entertaining. Many strong performances.
Nothing to dread there.

Elton still performs semi-regularly, with his last concert being a private event in December. He's had some health problems recently, but I can't imagine he would decline to perform at the Oscars if asked.

Then I guess it's just cut for time? That's a bummer. I would have liked to see him and Brandi Carlile, who I really like.

It's crazy to think Fuller from Home Alone is now an Oscar Nominee.

It's crazy that The Substance is a Best Picture nominee. I like the movie a lot but it isn't what I think of with Academy Awards -- at all.

Very odd. "Conclave" is a great film. Even friends of mine who I thought wouldn't like it did. A lot!

No Kidman for Babygirl is the big surprise for me. She was fantastic.

She was. But she wasn't a SAG or BAFTA nominee, so it felt like she wouldn't make the cut. Four of the five felt set in stone for months (Moore, Madison, Gascon, Erivo) so there was a LOT of competition for that 5th spot.

https://deadline.com/lists/where-to-...list-theaters/

This article tells where you can watch all the nominees. dex14 covered some of these

About 12 of these can be watched on a subscription streaming service. The rest are still in theaters or on PVOD

The body horror part, yeah not traditional Oscar material. But the beat you over the head message about female beauty standards. Notably in Hollywood, is VERY topical when it comes to todays awards landscape.

This nomination still baffles me. She hardly made an impression on me. Mostly in the background. "Oh look, is that Isabella Rossellini?"
