I mean... I love McHale... but I wish they got Dempsey back.

Well, I called that. It's unfortunate, but I wonder if Dempsey's salary negotiations are what kept pushing filming back. The plan was always for Detective Kincaid to be Sidney's husband and I figured the actor would be a lock after already working with Spyglass on Thanksgiving.

But given the well-publicized pay dispute with Campbell on the last film, I suspect they refused to come up too much on a lowball offer since he wasn't the star. Really dislike the McHale casting, but he'll probably end up a victim of Ghostface anyway. Doubt he's on the potential killer list, since the character would have to be playing the long game after marrying Sidney and having at least three kids with her.

Yeah, I totally forgot it even came out. I thought Scream V was atrocious and hard to even sit through being such a retread.

They really just need to stop at this point. It is past embarrassing. Next thing you know they will try to figure out a way to dig up the corpse of Wes Craven and bring Jamie Kennedy's character back to life. Just stop if you have nothing fresh or good to add to this series.

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)

For what it’s worth I thought Scream 6 was as good as 3 or 4 and did some new things in the franchise. Had some issues with it too but I don’t think any of them have been really good since Scream 2 so …

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)

EXCLUSIVE: Scott Foley (Scream 3, The Girls on the Bus) has joined the cast of Scream 7 from Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.

Details regarding his character and the film’s plot are currently under wraps. However, Foley is already part of the Scream universe having portrayed antagonist Roman Bridger, the film director and half-brother of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was revealed to be the Ghostface Killer of Scream 3.

Foley’s casting comes with its own set of questions because Roman was killed by Dewey (David Arquette) at Sidney’s request. Roman has faked his own death before so it’s plausible that he could reprise the role in the present or perhaps in flashback form in the past if he is deceased. Could Roman have a long-lost twin? This is Scream after all, so if he returns as a ghost (face killer?) or a zombie, it would not shock most. There are so many possibilities here that I defer to franchise superfans to figure out.

Interesting. Matthew Lillard was also just confirmed. They were toying with the idea of Stu returning as far back as Scream 3. But with Foley on board as well, I'm not entirely sure what the plan is. Dream sequence, perhaps? Let's see if Laurie Metcalf and Emma Roberts get announced next.

Please let them do a flashback with 55 year old Matthew Lillard playing a high schooler.

^ With Roman involved, that's actually what I'm thinking. A 1995 flashback to him recruiting Billy and Stu to kill Maureen Prescott, maybe? That would be unnecessary fan service... and probably look wonky as hell given the brief scenes of Ulrich as "teenage" Billy in the last two movies.

I think Vegas Audrey also had a bit part in Scream 2.

David Arquette returning:

I'm now leaning toward this movie having an AI/Deepfake angle... with Ghostface using it to screw with the protagonists.

Or they pull a Scream 3, only this time it's Dewey who left a taped warning.

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)

No surprise, but Ortega confirmed the "scheduling conflict" excuse was BS.

https://www.thecut.com/article/jenna...interview.html

It had nothing to do with pay or scheduling. The Melissa stuff was happening, and it was all kind of falling apart. If Scream VII wasn’t going to be with that team of directors and those people I fell in love with, then it didn’t seem like the right move for me in my career at the time.

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)

That's Dewey's voice taunting Sidney at 1:38, then Stu's voice at the end. I wonder if Arquette, Lillard and Foley are just providing voice changer cameos.

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)

That is a good trailer. How much of the movie did I just watch though?

Really hope they don't go with the magic voice changer that can imitate anyone which was done in parts 3 and one other one, 6 maybe? Don't like it when the killer has that ability.

I wondered that too... at least one or two good kills spoiled already.

Much more feasible these days, at least.
