Hey, I am all about cinematic experiences for the neurodivergent, but at some point someone really needs to draw the line. WTF is this?

It's the seventh movie in the series, and they're all named after a loud, sudden, scary noise.

Seems like something that would have done for a movie like Tenet. Perhaps this one goes overboard with the jump scare sound mixing?

Aren't "sensory friendly screenings" just the regular movie, but with certain accommodations for people with autism like lowered volume, lights not fully dimmed, outside food allowed, etc.?
I think they've usually been done for childrens' films, though, and not R-rated horror films.
Though I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't adults and teenagers on the spectrum who are horror fans, so maybe this is for them...

Scream 7 theater merch. I’m going to Harkins. I might get the merch there.
Also, if you see the Fan screening Thursday night, you’ll get the free mini poster

Oof... I'd considered going to the early screening at Cinemark tonight, but tickets are $16 (almost sold out) and the weather here is as awful as that critic score.
I've got an out-of-town appointment tomorrow and I'll be passing a small theater that has $6 matinee tickets. Guess I'll leave early and catch the 10:30 AM showing there. Even if it's terrible, I don't want to have the killer reveal spoiled by some YouTube thumbnail or clickbait headline.
No Harkins in my state, but I just found out Marcus (my nearest theater) also had those talking dolls. Called when they opened this morning and was told they only received four of them (really, Paramount?) and they sold out immediately at the fan event Thursday night.
Didn't really need it for my collection, but I would have picked one up at regular price just for the novelty of it being branded "SCREAM 7" on the hangtag and not just "GHOSTFACE" like most of the merch that's licensed from Fun World (the rights holder of the costume). Scalpers are already listing them for triple the price on eBay.

This scored the franchise's highest opening (it ranks third behind Scream 2 & 3 adjusted for inflation) at $64.1M domestic and $97.2M worldwide.

Quote from Gary Barber, CEO of Spyglass:
This is the same Gary Barber who was fine with losing Campbell over a lowball offer last time, only to woo her back (she scored a reported $7M salary and an executive producer credit) after he dismissed Melissa Barrera. I'll never forget the "studio insider" comment after Jenna Ortega passed on the movie: “He (Barber) didn’t need Neve, he doesn’t need Jenna.”

Quote from Gary Barber, CEO of Spyglass:
“This historic, franchise record-breaking box office performance is a testament to the enduring legacy created by our director Kevin Williamson 30 years ago, led by the incomparable Neve Campbell, breakout star Isabel May, legacy stalwart Courteney Cox and the entire cast.

New Variety piece on Melissa Barrera where she gives her thoughts on the cast members who chose to return for Scream 7.

You were fired from "Scream 7." Jenna Ortega didn't return. The director dropped out. But then Spyglass brough back cast members from the prior "Scream" films. Did that seem scabby to you? Did it feel like those were people basically crossing the picket line?
BARRERA: Oh, one hundred percent. I think they all are. And they have to live with that. The only way they were able to make that movie after what happened was to nostalgia-bait as much as possible.
And let's be real: the seventh one sucked.
BARRERA: I know. And I think they lied about the numbers. I don’t think it made that much money.
[Scream 7 grossed $207 million worldwide. Variety independently verifies box office gross.]

Fully support her in standing up for Palestine and Ortega for standing with her. Wish she wouldn't say stupid stuff when discussing things associated with that firing as it could make the whole thing seem silly/stupid to some but "luckily" support for the Palestinians is way beyond someone like Melissa Barrera so ultimately she's just damaging herself.
Pretty silly thing to say.

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)
Did anyone reach out to support you during that time? At least Jenna Ortega dropped out of "Scream."
BARRERA: [Shakes head] That's not the reality of things.
Really?
BARRERA: I got some messages of support from people in the industry, but what I found is that private messages with no action mean nothing.
Right. Why couldn't they at least send a tweet or have the message be public?
BARRERA: Exactly.

I want to be fair though : That doesn't seem like a word she used. It was unprofessional of the interviewer to essentially put that word in her mouth.

Re: Scream 7 (2026, D: Williamson)
I really didn't like Scream 7 at all; easily the worst of the franchise. Feels like it's running on fumes now. Loved the first one, and I thought that, even up through six, it was still the horror franchise with the best track record. But it really crawled up its own ass here.
But it was also the best-performing entry in the series (even adjusted for inflation, it's the highest gross since Scream 3), so we'll probably be getting more of these.
