If it was once on Max it's not anymore. I searched and it didn't come up. Jutswatch says it's only streaming on two services which are both UK only:

Saw this on a tech site (of all places):

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/bu...ke-1235403981/

If it passes, I predict a new strike in ~3 years (the length of the new contract).

Different strike. That's the writers. Hopefully the studios get serious with the actors now and production can resume.

Re: Screen Actors Strike 2023

I wonder if the actors' strike won't be tougher to resolve with the issues of deepfaking and face scanning in play. I suspect that the actors won't want to budge on that one, while the studios see it as being critical to the future of filmmaking.

There's no way the strike ends unless that "scan your face/pay you once and use it for free until the end of time" nonsense is removed completely.

Re: Screen Actors Strike 2023

I'm not really sure what the point of scanning extra's faces is.

There's probably current technology that could generate random people for use as background extras.

Like this: https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/
Or this: https://this-person-does-not-exist.com/en

This tech is going to explode in the next decade and everyone knows it. Both the studios and the actors are trying to get ahead of the curve.

Unless there's some kind of ulterior motive going on, it seems like it would just be cheaper, easier, and faster to use real people as extras.

The studios and SAG-AFTRA will now resume talks on Monday

I don't care what they have to do. Work this shit out with the Nanny and her negotiating team the entire week and next weekend if they have to. At least with the WGA deal now done, they have a template to work off from.

One thing the studios are missing is face/body scanning isn't likely what the consumer wants. It's cheaper for the studios, but the buying public may not care for it. Look at McDonalds kiosks. While that's cheaper for McDonalds, it is viewed more negatively by the customer base. The McDonalds staff now is trained to ignore their customers and whenever a customer asks a question, the employees act annoyed and just point to the kiosk. If you ever went in there in the mornings, the restaurants were filled with elderly people. They went there more for the human interaction than the food. They also wanted the interaction with the employees and the be referred to by name. You won't get the same interaction with a kiosk machine. I go into McDonald in the mornings now, and I don't see very many, if any, elderly people there. They all went to Bojangles down the street which doesn't have the kiosks. So, using the technology may be cheaper, but it won't do much good if the buying public no longer wants your product as much as they did before.

The studio heads will be involved with the new SAG AFTRA talks as they were with the WGA.

So unwillingly McDonalds is doing a good thing by selling less "food".

Re: Screen Actors Strike 2023

My elderly parents often used to go to McDonalds for a morning coffee and muffin. But they got so frustrated by all the kiosk bullshit they go somewhere else now, and I don't blame them.

My local McDonald's has kiosks, but only young people use them. There are two cash registers for everyone else and there's always at least one person staffed there to take our orders, two when it's busy, although I'm usually there only in the mornings so I don't know how busy it is at lunchtime or after school. In any event, the old folks haven't deserted this branch...yet.

I've definitely been to Mcdonalds where the person at the register helps people put their orders into the kiosk... which seems like really strange but is probably some directive to help people get used to the kiosks.

McDonald's at Chopin Airport in Poland have all kiosks. I assume it makes it easier for the multiple foreign travelers.

Re: Screen Actors Strike 2023

I guess they are keeping these negotiations quiet between the actors and studios, because there has been absolutely no news over the last several days. Unlike the WGA negotiations, which basically had leaks every day.

I hope that's a good thing. I guess we'll see this week.

I'm not even sure, have the picket lines stopped while negotiations are taking place?

No picket lines today, but SAG has told it's members to keep picketing. They even sent a schedule this week. SAG's last update on the negotiations said they will resume talks today.

I would assume they're going to picket until some kind of (at least tentative) deal is reached.

So, is the picketing still going on? I am going to NYC Thursday, I may want to check out what celebrities are picketing. And it looks like they are only picketing for 2 1/2 hours a day?

Around where I live, there's no one on the floor to help if there's an issue. If you can even get someone's attention, they act annoyed like you're interferring with them doing their job if you want to order food at their restaurant. I'm perfectly capable of knowing how to use the kiosks, but half the time they don't work properly. Either they won't scan the QR code from the phone, the computer freezes up and keeps spinning, paper is empty so you can't get a receipt, or it deletes half of your order by the time you go into the cart section to pay for it. That and they didn't build kiosks that could take cash. Why eliminate all the customers that only pay with cash? I also don't see speakers on any of the kiosks or if they even have speaker, they don't make a sound. It makes me wonder how blind people can go in there and order on their kiosks since braille obviously won't work with the way it's set up.

Sounds like the talks didn't go well today and they might need to take a break.

I just want to comment that SAG-AFTRA’s logo is profoundly stupid and douchey looking. The old SAG logo was such a better design
