RIP Jim Brown

RIP to the great Jim Brown, who died at 87 today: https://variety.com/2023/film/news/j...en-1235619369/

A major NFL star but I also always dug him whenever he showed up in the movies, from The Dirty Dozen to awesome blaxsploitation flick Three The Hard Way to The Running Man. Hell, he even got to kick a Martian's ass in Tim Burton's wacky Mars Attacks!

Re: RIP Jim Brown

His role in Mars Attacks was a standout amongst all those celebrity cameos, he had a real-ness to him that the others didn't always have.

Re: RIP Jim Brown

Damn. He was a favorite of mine growing up. I was always holding out hope he'd someday reunite with the cast of Original Ganstas for a sequel.

Didn't realize he was 87.

Re: RIP Jim Brown

Brown's wife up to his death was like 30 to 40 years younger than him.

Here is her statement

Re: RIP Jim Brown

I saw a bunch of his starring roles back then when they first came out, e.g. ICE STATION ZEBRA, 100 RIFLES, EL CONDOR, SLAUGHTER, et al. I first saw THE DIRTY DOZEN on a double bill with a film called TICK, TICK TICK (1970), in which Brown was paired with his DOZEN co-star, George Kennedy.

Thought he was very good in El Condor, Slaughter, and The Running Man. Not too bad on the football field, either. RIP to a legend.

Another SLAUGHTER co-star, Marlene Clark, died the same day he did.
