^ The Ice Storm is frigging great! I'm so happy that they have paired Elijah Wood with Christina Ricci in Yellowjackets this season for a reunion.

Definitely Dazed and Confused. I was the perfect age when it came out and have watched it probably more than any other movie. 14yo introverted me wanted nothing more than to be part of that world with the characters as friends.

Kiki's Delivery Service (subtitled, not the Disney dub)
I actively avoid coming of age movies and television programs. I have no nostalgia for my adolescence.

Re: Favorite coming of age movies?
This is one of my favorite genres. Most of my favorite examples have been mentioned, but here are a few that I don't think have been listed yet:
All the Right Moves
My Girl
Flipped - cute movie directed by Rob Reiner about a girl and her crush
Empire of the Sun
The Journey of Natty Gann
Captains Courageous - 1937, Spencer Tracy plays a fisherman teaching a spoiled brat how to work and survive at sea.
October Sky
The Black Stallion
Mysterious Skin - stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt; very dark movie about abuse, but very good
I was/am a big River Phoenix fan.
Stand By Me has also been mentioned, but he was in a few other good coming-of-age movies, including:
The Mosquito Coast - maybe not strictly a coming-of-age movie, but Phoenix's character's arc does kind of fit
A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon - this movie seems largely forgotten, but I liked it when I was a teen
Dogfight - really good, small film costarring Lili Taylor
