Re: Favorite band performance in a non-concert movie

A few more that come to mind ...

Madonna singing Crazy For You during the bar scene in Vision Quest. Not a fan of hers really but, will admit, she certainly piqued my interest as a 16-year-old when her Lucky Star video first came out. She did a nice job here in one of her earlier on-screen appearances.
Elisabeth Shue with Albert Collins and his band at a Chicago blues club in Adventures In Babysitting.
The church congregation singing Wash Me In His Blood, interspersed with a prostitute running for her life through the city streets at night, in 1972's Beware My Brethren.

In addition to Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young and I Can Dream About You from Streets of Fire, I'd like to add On The Darkside from Eddie and the Cruisers:

Skunk Anansie in Strange Days during the NYE celebration was cool. Hell, even Juliette Lewis and her band in Strange Days was also cool since she was a real-life singer, as well. We saw her open up for Chris Cornell when he was doing his solo gig after Audio Slave broke up.

KISS in KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park and in Detroit Rock City. Who doesn't like to hear a rousing rendition of their hit, "Rip and Destroy"?

Don't forget the black stuntman dressed as Ace after Frehley left the set in a huff one day ...

And whoever they had to hire to dub every line of dialog for Peter Criss, as well.

This certainly doesn't count, but I've always loved how it just stops the entire movie in its tracks.

They cut off before Reggie's line... "We're hot as love, you know."

As much as I love that clip, Jody's lead part toward the end, stunk.

Not exactly the theme of the thread but I always love this scene when I watch Night Before every Christmas.

I always loved Marvin Berry's version of Earth Angel from Back to the Future. So much so that if I ever hear the original, it just sounds wrong.

Re: Favorite band performance in a non-concert movie

Surprised no one has mentioned Rock N Roll High School yet. So many Ramones performances, including basically a mini-concert midway through the film. But I'm gonna post this clip, and I'll bet anything it's Joey's favorite scene in the movie too. Johnny liked the harder side of rock and roll and punk (he very much embraced the US hardcore style that arose in the 80s), but Joey was all about 60s girl groups. I think this sequence, pretty much an ode to 60s beach movies but with a Ramones-esque feel, was probably a dream come true for him.

The Offspring playing I Wanna Be Sedated in Idle Hands at the prom.

Kiss playing Psycho Circus on a Halloween episode of the TV show Millennium.

That makes me think of another good one. Morris Day and the Time at the end of Jay and Silent Bob.
