This was so much fun. Worth every penny. So much fun. Inventive kills. One of the most inventive I’ve seen in a long time. Which I won’t spoil. Like a holiday Mr. Nobody. Harbour was perfect in this role. Looked like he had a blast. DeAngelo played same role as on Entourage. She’s being type cast. 😜 Too much ps though.
The movie was an absolute blast. Can’t wait for Blu with hopeful extras. This takes the top spot for me as smarmy X-mas movies like Bad Santa.

Several weeks late, but managed to catch a 7pm show tonight at AMC.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun watching this. This was not even on my radar months ago, but the good word of mouth sold me on it, Harbour was great as a badass version of Santa. I really liked the teases of his past. But, there wasn't much payoff to them except teases. I also liked Leguizamo as the villain. Good mix of comedy and action. I really liked Leah Brady as Trudy. Good young actress and she worked well with Harbour and they had some really nice scenes together.
Beverly D'Angelo must have smoked quite a few cigarettes in her younger days. She's got a really deep raspy voice. It suited her character playing the rich asshole Mother. I've seen her in a few things here and there over the years outside of the Vacation movies. Mostly notably the Shooter TV series.
Some great and badass kills in this. Much more violent Home Alone. Glad I managed to catch it before Christmas and on the tail end of it's theatrical run.

It made me laugh that the souped up Home Alone scenes were way more painful to watch than the Santa Die Hard with a sledge hammer scenes.
Fun movie. A bit disjoint and definitely silly as hell but undeniably a fun movie.
As my friend put it, it was like a super violent Righteous Gemstones Christmas special.

Saw this with a buddy, we both found it entertaining. I just about died when Harbour yelled "noooooo there were children's dreams in that bag" as his bag is tossed into the fireplace. Really funny

Finally got a chance to see this last week.
Loved David Harbour's performance but when he wasn't on-screen, I didn't find myself caring about much of anything else.
When I heard that Director Tommy Wirkola was behind the lens, I think I was expecting this to be 100-times more deranged than the final product.
I will say that

Amazon now lists the bluray as coming out next Tuesday (1/24). I want to buy it as I missed in theaters but I'm guessing if I do Shout Factory will probably get a hold of the rights to release it on 4k next fall right before Christmas.

Old Jedi finally watched this on Peacock. Absolutely insane, and does not disappoint. Last year, paid 19.99 for a full year of Peacock (with commercials, natch) and really have gotten my money’s worth. I’m all in if they ever go with a full origin story.

97-99 was kind of the end of his heyday. He started doing really mediocre work after. 2003 was Gigli.

My pitch for a sequel: Violent Night 2: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
But really conquers them, unlike the old film.

It was not bad.
Will it be included in the rotation of classic xmas movies from now on?
I am surprised this did not get a 4K disc release.

I have it for 12 months for $1.99 with a special promotion.
Maybe if you like the WWE it is a great value and they still have Universal studios theatrical movies before they come out on DVD which is good.

Just watched it. Was fairly fun for what it was. Liked some of the more interesting ways of disposing of the bad guys. I would watch a sequel.
