Man, I had no idea what this was about. Total surprise what actually movie about. I don’t know what I saw in trailers, but it wasn’t this. Loving it. Was this loosely based on actual case or perhaps actual case?

Yeah, there’s a whole thread where we were discussing it. It’s around here somewhere…

You avoided the thread for concern of spoilers, saw the movie, posted in the thread without reading it, asking a question about the main point of conversation in the thread, and when people point that out, you go all Steve Martin on the "Excuse me" bit?! The part that's missing is where you read the thread after seeing the movie but before posting in it, to see if the question has been addressed. People answered your question, why ask it if you don't want an answer? The answer very well could have been "Google it" or you could Google it yourself. It is bizarre to me that you seem to be taking offense when you appear to have missed a crucial step or two yourself.

I don't think this is a spoiler since it doesn't involve anything to do with the plot of the film itself... It's just something mentioned in the movie that was nagging at me so here it goes.
So Damon's character in the movie says he didn't vote for Trump because he was a felon and couldn't vote...
But then later in the movie when asked about guns, he admits he owns a shotgun and a glock.
Wouldn't he not be able to have any guns as a felon if he couldn't vote? Seems weird to me to disallow him to vote but still allow him to own guns.

But it could also be an error in the movie. Sort of like how shows and movies interchange jail and prison. They are most definitely not the same thing.

This is now playing at a Super Saver theater in my area. $2.25 per show. I now plan to see this and Green Knight over there this weekend.
Even though it's on VOD, I have no interest in paying $20 to watch this. $2.25 is a steal even though this super saver theater is kind of old. I could have seen this weeks ago using A-List, but just never got around to it. Have some things come up. But now I do want to catch it.
Back on topic, doesn't seem like many in this forum watched this movie. Seems like most of the posts are about the Amanda Knox story and how this movie has some similarities to it.

I enjoyed this. Not a Damon fan in a long time but he was good. Surprised most of this takes place in France. I had low expectations so the film was a nice surprise.

Just got back from seeing this at the super saver. This ended up being nothing at all what I was expecting.
I thought it was going to be a political thriller/murder mystery. It had little bits of that. But overall it was pretty much:
Damon was great in this and I loved the Camille Cottin and Lilou Siauvaud, who played Maya. She and Damon had really emotional scenes together.
I felt like no one really ended up happy at the end, which seemed fitting for the characters.
Not what I was expecting, but I actually enjoyed this a lot. Beautiful scenics in Marseille, France.
I'd give this 3 3/4 stars and a B.

There was a scene where Breslin spoke very conversational French talking with Cottin.
I was curious if she actually knew any French beforehand and it turns out No. She actually had to study French for the movie. It's explained here.

Just saw this last night. Really good movie. Loved the little twist at the end in regards to the daughter - after everything he went thru to try and help free her.

I thought the movie was very good. I agree that it wasn’t really a thriller but more of a character study. I admit I don’t really know much about the Amanda Knox case other than the basic premise (even though she’s from my area), so that didn’t really affect me.

I watched this tonight on Showtime and enjoyed it, but I thought there was a pretty big plot hole.
