There was a time, circa 1986-1990, when horror filmmakers were making sequels to their originals (Which had originally frightened the shit out of me...Namely, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead) that turned out to be way, WAY more comical. These days, I understand that the directors didn't want to repeat themselves. But back then, especially as a young kid, there was a lot of head-scratching done by me as well.

Police Story 7

By far the worst of the series. Jackie Chan was basically sleep walking through it.

Rocky 5. What a colossal hiccup by Sly on that one. He redeemed himself with Rocky Balboa (Rocky 6), so I only recognize 5 Rocky Movies in my canon.

I was going to mention Rocky 5 but decided not to because I thought Rocky Balboa redeemed itself so much that part 5 is even more inconsequential to the series. I also thought Rocky’s fall from being a millionaire to a humble man worked well in Rocky Balboa that wouldn’t necessarily be there if it skipped from Rocky 4 to Rocky Balboa.

But yeah, Rocky 5 is shit.

I wonder if it's related to the marketing push to put these otherwise PG-13/ R (or similar) rated properties get that sweet, sweet money from kids. Ghostbusters, Robocop, the Toxic Avenger, Swamp Thing (I realize Swamp Thing is a DC property but the movie skewed older), Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Rambo, Police Academy etc. all had cartoons and stuff like Aliens, Predator and Terminator had toylines that were expressly for kids, not collectors.

Blade Trinity. I loved the first two Blade movies. I hated Blade Trinity.

All the Star Wars films were made by Lucasfilm with VERY LITTLE interference by their banker, Disney. The sole exception is, apparently, The Rise of Skywalker, as rumors are that JJ didn't have final cut of that movie and Disney execs were insistent about certain plot points...but who knows how much of that is true and how much isn't. I do know that Disney let Kathleen Kennedy do her own thing at least through The Last Jedi and Solo.

With Sly in mind, I've got to add Rambo: Last Blood. A movie so bad, the character doesn't even SEEM like John Rambo.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is one that requires a good dose of selective memory loss.

This is from a person who did not hate Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Richard Pryor is cool but she should have said no and I don't think it had a lot of Superman scenes either.

I still haven't seen the whole movie but it just seems really campy and gimmicky to have the main draw be Richard Pryor in a Superman film and have it promoted like that. I'd just assume from that poster that it's a comedy.

I actually love that movie and find it funny that Office Space took one of the main points of it and used it (I think they acknowledged it in that movie). Also loved seeing good Superman vs. evil Superman. And I liked his romance with Lana Lang...And I think a bunch was shot around in the province I live in...Even the buses look familiar and I bet some of them are still running...I thought this was underrated...And for what its worth, I thought Richard Pryor was actually really good...

I would take Annette O’Toole’s Lana Lang over Margot Kidder’s Lois Lane any day!

Re: Movies that you pretend they dont exist

Superman III definitely isn’t good, but I’d take it over The Quest for Peace any day. The evil Superman parts alone make up for some of the crappy aspects. Evil Superman vs. Clark Kent at the junkyard is entertaining.

Also didn’t mind the break from Lois after the first two films, and especially after Superman II played around with the idea of her knowing about Clark being Superman and subsequently tossing it out right away. They should have just made it so she knew and they were in a relationship versus continuing on with the goofy secret identity stuff, which got really ridiculous in The Quest for Peace.

I'll take that one over Resurrection, Prometheus, Covenant, and both AVP's any day.

It's still weird to me that they basically used Luthor and Zod, then completely dropped any comic book villains from the movies and rolled their own (this includes Supergirl). How much could the royalties have been on any of Superman's actual rogue gallery? I don't think I've watched 3 since I was a kid.

I said Alien3 (actually, I said every movie post-Aliens). But I'll admit I'm torn about Alien3. It's not a bad movie. But it's not enjoyable. It's so bleak (even compared to Alien) that it's not a pleasure to sit through.

Re: Movies that you pretend they dont exist

Alien 3 is a good movie, but it's not a good third entry in the Alien series. It didn't escalate the threat (it regressed it, actually), it ended on a downer, and it seemed like it did everything it could to end the franchise.
