I enjoyed it a good bit. I was literally on the edge of my seat for probably half the film. Super short run time helps; there's no filler at all. At times if felt like Jaws with the tension of knowing how close the subs were.
I don't understand why they even bothered to keep in the couple flashbacks at the beginning. Was the original plan to have more flashbacks like that throughout?

My wife and I watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The multiple distress flares going up all around them...I was just like "jesus christ, what a mess". What a clusterfuck that whole situation was.
It was a great fit for watching at home too.

You know this is going to be an awesome movie because he looks like he's made of plastic on the poster - just like green mile.

Apple hasn't released numbers but said viewing was "on par with summer blockbuster ticket sales". Also worth noting that 30% of viewers were new. That's a lot of $5 subscriptions for the month.

Enjoyed the film. Was nice seeing Tom Hanks again. Besides Toy Story 4, the last film he was in that I saw was The Post from 2017.

It was ok, would give it a C+ or so, far from his best work... as much as I love Elizabeth Shue I wonder if there was more of that relationship that ended up on the cutting room floor as it was really not needed for the film. Lots of action but there was not too much character development, probably would have benefited from a longer cut.

It was a good watch for being at home, but this would not make it as a theatrical release. The opening scenes with Shue are just padding what could have been an 80 minute movie.

I was looking forward to this when I saw the theatrical trailers. Of course, that didn't happen and it went to Apple. I was reminded of it the other day and it's not available on the streaming rental sites and isn't yet scheduled for blu-ray.

I finally got around to signing up for appleTV and this was the first thing I watched.
I thought it was pretty good. I would have preferred it if it was about 15-20 longer with more character development. I get that the director made a choice to show this as 50 intense hours with no downtime (as evidenced by the inability to eat the food and Hanks’ character’s sore/bloody feet) but I was surprised that it was one battle after another for the films entire runtime. Once it starts about 5 minutes in, it doesn’t let up until the end credits.
It all felt very authentic.
