Interesting, but I can't tell if this will be another Midway/U-571, or something actually good.

Sounds interesting. I know Hanks is a big WWII buff so I look forward to seeing a WWII screenplay from him.

Never heard of the director. IMDB shows a pretty lean directing filmography so who knows how this will turn out.

I thought since he's played a boat captain, a train conductor and a pilot, this was a movie about a bus driver....

His film Get Low was good.

That’s the only film of his that I recognized. Haven’t seen Get Low yet though.

Well this one is "inspired by" actual events, a-la U-571. And Hanks has a soft spot in particular for any story about WWII, and America in general. Like him producing From the Earth to the Moon, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and so on.

I think it looks awesome and cool to see Elisabeth Shue on the big screen again.

If I’m not mistaken, Hanks was also instrumental in getting the WWII memorial in Washington DC established as well.

I'm be seeing this in Dolby Cinema. Movies like this are made for the big screen. Footage looks great.

So looking forward to this, not sure how many Americans know how we had German U-Boats right off our East Coast.

Love Tom Hanks.

I love Hanks and I'm a big WWII buff, but that trailer left me kind of "meh." I'm worried this one might not be very good.

BTW, this movie is based on a novel called "The Good Shepherd," but I'm guessing the movie couldn't use that title because of the Robert De Niro movie of the same name?

So far it has a decent score at RT (74%). But the reviews are all 3 Stars.

Stuckmann gave it a C. He said it was dull and forgettable.

This is now up. 91 minutes and in 4K.

I’ll probably catch it later today.

Just finished it. Looks and sounds great. It's very good. It's not Red October great, but very good.

This was pure rock n roll for just under 90-minutes without credits. The DV/Atmos looked/sounded fantastic.

It's a shame I couldn't see this on the big screens, that was 90 minutes of "oh s**t!" (in a good way).

Re: Greyhound (2020, D: Schneider) - S: Tom Hanks

Just finished watching It tonight. Good, but not great. It’s very short at 80 minutes before credits. Spectacular battle and combat scenes with some intense sequences. What I mean by intense sequences was the German U boat captain taunting them on the radio. But the character development wasn’t really there. Hanks was alright, but this wasn’t one of his better acting performances. Overall I’d give this a 7 out of 10 and maybe a B- Elisabeth Shue has literally one scene and that’s it. Pretty much 98 percent of the movie is in the water.

Theres 2 bonus features in Apple TV plus. Both were about 3 1/2 minutes each. They had interviews with Hanks and some of the cast.

Re: Greyhound (2020, D: Schneider) - S: Tom Hanks

I thought it was ok. Pretty intense, swift moving 90 minutes. I agree there’s not a lot of character development or depth to it. When I saw that Elisabeth Shue was going to be in it I thought it would be a great thing to see her back on the screen again. Her part could have literally been played by someone they pulled off the street for a few minutes.I don’t know if a lot of her scenes were cut but what a waste. In the end, when people talk about Tom Hanks career I don’t think this film will be brought up much.
