Re: Rank the Star Wars Films
Glad to see Rogue One get so much love. It's currently my favorite, most watched of the series (but not my favorite overall if that makes sense). I didn't include Solo(which I enjoyed quite a bit) because it really didn't change anything or impact the series as a whole, unlike Rogue One which completely changed how I look at An New Hope.
For me there is a HUGE drop from the original and sequel trilogies (I liked them all) to the prequels (I generally only watch the fan edits of these). There are lots of cool scenes and characters that were just wasted in the prequels.
Empire
Rogue One
A New Hope
Force Awakens
Rise of Skywalker
Return of the Jedi
Last Skywalker
Revenge of the Sith
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones

Only ranking the mainline films:
1. A New Hope
2. Return of the Jedi
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. Rogue One
5. Revenge of the Sith
6. The Force Awakens
7. The Phantom Menace
8. The Rise of Skywalker
9. Attack of the Clones
10. Solo

11. The Last Jedi
I can't state enough how badly TLJ missed the mark. It had so many neat ideas and concepts that never gel into something that logically follows The Force Awakens.
Honorable mention must be given to The Mandalorian for evoking the feel of the OT era and moving towards the ST era, while still telling a side story that manages to be so compelling and tying in so many extra concepts like Ahsoka Tano and Bo Katan. And then that last episode...
1. A New Hope
2. Return of the Jedi
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. Rogue One
5. Revenge of the Sith
6. The Force Awakens
7. The Phantom Menace
8. The Rise of Skywalker

Re: Rank the Star Wars Films
I know Abrams tried to tie up everything the best he could but, man, what a way to end the series with a whimper. Rey Skywalker? Get the fuck out of here with that unearned bullshit!

Re: Rank the Star Wars Films
I think that, after The Last Jedi, most of the people who hated that movie had written off the "saga" by the time The Rise of Skywalker rolled out, so that's why it didn't get as much vitriol.
I didn't even bother seeing The Rise of Skywalker in the theater because I just didn't give a fuck how the saga would end. And I still can't believe I feel that way.
And even though I initially liked The Force Awakens, I have since come to view the entire Sequel Trilogy as a colossal misfire. It's just a lazy, directionless mess. The epitome of corporate Hollywood garbage.
Anyway, to rate the films...
The Saga:
1. The Empire Strikes Back 10/10
2. A New Hope 10/10
3. Return of the Jedi 8/10
4. Revenge of the Sith 6/10
5. Attack of the Clones 5/10
6. The Force Awakens 4/10
7. The Phantom Menace 4/10
8. The Rise of Skywalker 1/10
9. The Last Jedi 1/10
The Stories:
Rogue One 8/10
Solo 7/10
