A 25 percent cut seems much more reasonable.
The whole breakup IMO was blown out of proportion. I think it was tough negotiation tactics that get leaked and then everything got blown up by the media.

Wow, that's so weird how they figured out a deal. It was almost like it was never actually going to hapOF COURSE THEY DID A DEAL.

So is Disney not providing anything for production cost? The original offer was 50% of production cost for 50% profits, not a crazy deal as it was made out to be.

As a figure collector that's twice as good to me. Because there is hardly any Marvel merchandising produced when Disney its not involved in the film (like Fox X-Men films)

You might want to check your math again. Far From Home cost $160M to make and grossed $1.1B. I'm pretty sure Sony will trade off spending an extra $80M to retain an additional $275M gross

Big win for Sony, IMO. Disney was definitely the ones who forced their hand by basically demanding 50%.

So Spider-Man 3 and one Spidey appearance in an MCU movie.
I have to wonder if he will appear in one of the many MCU movies in development for Phase 4?

25% was Marvel's original offered a Sony, including financing 25% of the film. They only went to 50% on both ends after that offer sat on the table for months with no response from Sony. So all that happened is that they basically just agreed to Marvel's original offer

It almost feels like some of this drama is set up. Just a couple weeks ago we were seeing all this news about the partnership between Sony and Marvel Studios being over and there was no other way about it. Suddenly they just make up overnight one night and are back to making at least one more solo film and another team up film.
It’s kind of like the James Gunn thing too. He was fired and for a while it seemed like we could just forget him ever being rehired and then after months of being told not to expect him back he’s back. Just weirdness sorta. It feels like it must be on Disney’s end since they’re involved in both situations.

Weird thing is...
With Disney giving 25% of the Cost of the movie and Getting 25% of the "Profit", that works outs about the same as 5% of the Gross.
Spider-Man: Far from Home
OLD Deal - Gross $1.1 Billion / 5% = about $55 Million
NEW Deal - 25% of Cost of Movie = $40 Million, then Disney would have received about $100 Million from Profit. $100 - $40 = $60 Million
So all this drama over $5 Million????
Glad Spidey is back!!!!

That's all well and good, but the thing I'd like to see most is Norman Osborne/Green Goblin as a major MCU villain; sort of Marvel's Lex Luthor, like he is in the comics.

Tom Holland's Last-Minute Appeal Helped Seal a 'Spider-Man' Deal
OCTOBER 02, 2019 11:03AM by Tatiana Siegel, Borys Kit
The franchise's star made multiple appeals to both Disney CEO Bob Iger and Sony film chairman Tom Rothman during negotiations.
On Aug. 20, the long-simmering spat between Sony and Disney-Marvel over Spider-Man reached a breaking point: Any partnership between the two for a third installment of the Tom Holland-fronted franchise was "100 percent dead," according to a source familiar with the negotiations.
But in true Peter Parker-underdog fashion, an unlikely hero emerged to reconcile the two warring factions less than six weeks later: Holland himself. Sources say the star, 23, made multiple appeals to Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger and Sony film chairman Tom Rothman to reach a resolution, announced Sept. 27, for Marvel to produce a third Spider-Man movie for Sony, and for the character to appear in at least one additional Disney-Marvel film.
Holland began flexing his diplomacy after the D23 wrapped Aug. 25. He leaned on Rothman to re-engage with Disney (the actor was able to leverage his clout because he also is set to star in Sony's Uncharted) and also surprisingly reached out to Iger, beseeching one of Hollywood's most powerful executives to return to the table.
