Figured this was coming. Christ, I guess everyone is going to be pissed off about something in this film.
I'm a big Lee fan, but also enjoyed Mike Moh's arrogant, asshole portrayal of him.

Bruce Lee was still a bad ass in this film. He got bested by a fictional character by way of the fictional character's recollection of what happened in the fight between Bruce Lee and the fictional character.
Bruce Lee's film work and his accolades in the martial arts are still testaments to his talents and have not been removed by this fictional film. Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood is not a documentary, Shannon.

Rumer is playing Joanna Pettet, an up-and-coming British actress at the time. She had a featured role in "Casino Royale" as the daughter of Mata Hari and James Bond. She would end up doing countless roles in weekly drama series of the late '60s and '70s.

Loved it.
I didn't stick around through the credits though - was there post-credits sequence?

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood...another sublime effort by Tarantino. I was just in giddy delight as the buildup climbed to that violent finally that QT is so famous for. Everything was perfect and this was truly great acting by Pitt and DiCaprio. they were perfect and worked so well together. just loved everything about it and it went so fast. loved the dialogue, the limited action, the fictional non-fiction. everything just worked well. i had no idea what was going to happen and i was pleasantly surprised all the way around. will be watching this many times to get everything. just great.

one question...was Clint Eastwood portrayed or mentioned at all in this? i know it was just after his spaghetti western popularity, but my mom swears he was mentioned and i was pretty sure he wasn't. this was 1969 and TGTBTU was 66 and really didn't do another for awhile after...

Great, in-depth article on the movie, mostly having to do with the shooting of it.

She was 4 years old when her Dad died. Her memories of him are probably stories from her Mom and home movies. She's definitely being over-reactive.

Well sure, the spaghetti westerns Rick did was an homage. But I didn’t think any mention...

I'd say you hit it right on the money. That's what I came away with after watching this and why I really enjoyed the ending.
As much as I love horror and mayhem, I would've walked out if we were going to see the Tate murders recreated. The alternate reality is much more satisfying, especially for us dog owners.

The audience I saw this with was a mix of both young and older people, with the older looking like they were from the time period portrayed. When Rick roasted that woman in the pool several of those people erupted in applause. I could tell this was very cathartic for them. Also, my parents and I are both dog lovers and our biggest concern during the end was that the dog would get hurt. Needless to say we were thrilled when the dog began to tear the shit out of the killers.
I think that QT realizes that the world is a harsh place and if he wants to make "fairy tale" ending movies that set right what many see as wrong, then more power to him. I personally hope that if he keeps making movies after the tenth he eventually makes one about the time period of the 2016 election.

Back from a 2nd viewing. Despite using the bathroom break during the filming of Lancer, I liked the film even more. It certainly has that great "Hang-out" quality that I get from Jackie Brown and (The first half of) Death Proof. Only thing I'm still bummed out about is that I still haven't been able to spot the gorgeous Bowling sisters in the cast. Their character names indicate they're part of Charlie's family, but I still fail to seen them. And it's hard to not miss Kansas' beautiful face (Yes, that's her real name) I don't know where Danielle Harris(!) is either.
Good stuff, but Corbucci's Minnesota Clay sounds more in league than Navajo Joe. QT even named-dropped "Minnesota Clay" in Django Unchained. And I finally remembered what Rick's Parking-Spot poster reminded me of:
Intentional or not, it's some nice foreshadowing of Rick's future of working in Italy.

This is definitely gonna be highly rewatchable for me. I taught a criminal justice class and one of my students did project on Manson, but never really touched on him with syllabus, which was pretty nil anyway. So knew a little just from history and it was cool to know the aftermath, but seeing it fictionalized this way was so much fun.

In regard to the Bruce Lee portrayal, if anyone is an expert on being arrogant and having their head up their own ass it is Tarantino.

I have no idea how I feel about this movie.
I mean, I do, but those feelings are so conflicted and confused I don't know what to make of them.
The plot was almost non-existent. You could write the screenplay treatment on a paper napkin. A small square paper napkin. And the first 3/4 of the movie was really slow.
The ending is what most people would wish had really happened, with no basis in reality, despite a realistic setting and real world characters. Much like Inglorious Basterds.
The performances were excellent, the characters were interesting and compelling, and the attention to detail was amazing. And the ending was, in it's own wishful thinking alternate way, awesome.
So I don't know what to make of this movie or how to rate it.
