"Better than it looks" is not my idea of a strong endorsement.
Just like a lot of people here, I can't bring myself to go to the theater during the height of a surge during the pandemic. I'll wait for it to hit video.

And I said better than it looks in the trailers. Some of those Tweets seem to acknowledge that the currently released trailers aren't great, and that I do agree with. If the movie is much better than those ads make it look, I am happy to hear it.

I’m very much looking forward to this. And I’ll spoilerize this picture that Ronny Chieng posted on his Instagram. Surprised but not surprised.

Allright, I'm in for my first MCU opening Thursday! (last first day was Iron Man's opening Friday) Going for B level in the Dolby (I think C is perfect, but I've always wanted to see what B is like, and I'd prefer not to be sitting next to anyone) Bring it on!

I got my Dolby Ticket for Friday the 3rd. Would have normally done Thursday, but I have to work that night.

Got my tickets for opening night. I would not be in a theater during the current conditions but I've been waiting for this movie since I first picked up a Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu comic as an Asian kid in the 70's (which I still have somewhere) so I really want to support this movie, I'll just double mask and burn my clothes afterward. The early buzz seems to be good, putting aside the Youtube shills there are good early impressions coming from Forbes, Insider, Collider, Slashfilm, and Entertainment Weekly.

I saw it last night. I am NOT a hard core Marvel guy, but I have seen all of them (except new D+ TV shows) and I gotta say, I loved Simu Liu and he was the highlight. Saw it in IMAX and it looked beautiful. Not sure how other Marvel fans will take it, but I really liked it. A new character, and a decent set up. I know people aren't fans of Awkafina, but I don't know her, and I thought she worked well in the role as a BFF.
I do imagine it will be a hard sell, because you don't have a known character, AND you don't have a big star (at least Guardians and Ant-Man had names attached). But I think it will do well with word of mouth and that is why they did the early previews.
Got a cool poster too!

I have a friend who saw this already at a press screening and said it was way better than the trailers made it out to be. I tend to generally agree with his point of view on film. He's no shill either.

I’ve heard it’s good, but is pretty much average, middle-tier MCU. I’ll see it, but I’m not in a huge rush to go out opening day or weekend.

All the early reaction I’ve seen said it’s top 10 MCU. But opinions are subjective of course

I mean it could be, but I have a hard time believing that. Seems like a lot of pre-release overhype.

IMO, the average MCU movie is still a great super hero movie. Considering there's only a few (maybe 5) I would consider 'meh'-ish, those 5 are still better than most other super hero movies (especially contemporary ones)..So if this is above average, that would make it near the Top 10 for the MCU, which would be great.

By my count there are 8 MCU movies that stand out from the pack:
Iron Man
Winter soldier
Civil War
Avengers
Infinity War
Endgame
Ragnarok
Guardians
The rest all more or less fall under the category of fine. Everyone may have one or two others they champion for whatever reason, but there's no reason this can't be top ten. It's not as high a bar as you might think.

No matter what happens this will be at least # 18 out of 23. I think it will be better than that.

I just saw latest trailer and fuck that looked good. I saw Hulk, of course, but was that Iron Man too? I’m not gonna lie I just asked my friend if he wanted to see it. Depending on what he says I may go back to theater. May. This is what, streaming on D+ in 45 days? Not too long, but I’ve seen every MCU in theater (sans maybe 1) and kinda wanna keep streak alive. But I’d have to go a distance to only stadium seating I would be comfortable. I mean 40 minutes. Which isn’t bad, but I drive an hour each each way to work 5 days per week. I dunno. We’ll see.

Iron Man and the Hulk? What trailer did you watch?
