RIP: Margot Kidder

Tell me about it. My DVD of the Donner Cut of Superman II is also a coaster at this point. I tried watching it a couple years ago and could only get it to play on my PC, but now the disc won't even register in the drive. 2006 seems to be a bad vintage for my WB discs.

I bought two DVD copies of "The Hand" from Warner and they both crap-out at the layer break.

"Superman" actress Margot Kidder died from an intentional drug and alcohol overdose ... according to the Coroner's Office.
The Park County Coroner says Kidder's overdose was self-inflicted. TMZ broke the story ... Kidder, who played Lois Lane in the '70s and '80s "Superman" movies, was found May 13 in her Livingston, MT home. The Coroner has not specified what drugs she took.
Her daughter, Maggie McGuane, told the AP the family wanted to be "open and honest" about the suicide to avoid any "cloud of shame."
Margot had struggled for years, very publicly at times, with bipolar disorder. She was 69.

Got to salute the family for putting that out there.
I see no shame in what she did. I'm sure she was a great and wonderful person. Her smile spoke in volumes alone.

Crazy to read this. A local radio station interviewed her on Wednesday (before she died) as she was coming to the Detroit Comic-Con... she seemed in good spirits (albeit sounded like she had a head cold) and was highly energetic.

It is for sure sad. But coming from someone who doesn't have probably a quarter of the problems she had, I can go from wanting to be a hermit and feeling like the lowest person in the world one day to feeling quite good about life the next day of two later.
