Re: The Worst Films of 2017.
I caught Snatched on cable a few weeks back and holy cow it was just a sad pathetic shell of a wannabe comedy film, Amy Schumer is better than this...I wonder what she was thinking when she pitched this film to the studio but I think even less of the studio executives who did not head this one off at the pass.
The film was worse than one that is outright bad or one that you hate, it was just such a pathetic production I may have literally sighed after it was over and said what was the point of that?
I enjoyed Trainwreck so I have nothing against Amy Schumer...but what an embarrassing film to have on your resume.

I feel worse for Goldie Hawn. She came out of a 15 year retirement for THAT???? Hopefully she doesn't go back into retirement because of it.

I generally avoid bad movies as well but since it was on Netflix we made it a movie night. 5yo liked it. I won't let her watch it again. It was so terrible.

Eddie! You are still here!
I still think this is asinine.
On another off topic tangent ... Senior Member already? Wow, they have lowered the bar for titles in an effort to attract new members.
What comes after Legend? I remember somebody had posted the ranks and requisites at one time ...

Now the guy asking about someone being banned has been banned. There has to be some sort of fun backstory in there somewhere.

Back to Blade Runner 2049 ... I think you are misusing “self contained”. It can be a self contained story because you really didn’t need to see Blade Runner to get it — it is not a continuation of the events of Blade Runner. It is a new story that falls back on things Blade Runner established. Seeing the original may help and may allow you to get more out of it, but anything you really needed was provided in BR2049.
What many of you are referring to is world building, or the scope of the world. This is the extent to which the world feels expansive. Just having lots of locations does not make the world expansive. I agree with those who say the world of BR2049 was not expansive, it was just set pieces. The world was a background and did not “become a character” of its own as it did in the original. Think of it as the extent to which characters actually interact with the world around them. In Mute, the characters heavily interact with their world, even if it is set “within walking distance” (which was the point — the characters were trapped there through various circumstances and were trying to escape in their own ways). That world could easily be grown upon to expand the universe it is set in.

I don't think the original's world was expansive at all. Can't figure out for the life of me how others do but don't see it in 2049 - it is what it is

Not sure if it's why he got banned, but the second guy was promoting another forum via private messages, had a gut feeling he wouldn't be around much longer but he was one of the few really active newer members so it's actually a bit of a shame. We don't get too many of those.
I agree that Just Getting Started is one of the worst, my dad enjoyed it, I couldn't finish it.

Just a hunch but MarkitZero was very prolific and obnoxious in the political forum so I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to something over there. It actually seemed like an existing member with a second account just trying to start shit in politics.

Well in 1982, seeing the world in "2019" was definitely something never seen before on the big screen. It had a real feel to what the world could be like. 2049 just continued with better effects, but we had already seen just about all of it before.

Yes, the visuals were amazing for the 80's but the film still feels largely restrictive to me regardless.
