Yeah I finally saw it. The acting is hammy, the action excessively long, the violence grotesque, the sets artificial looking, the locations too manicured, the music overbearing, and the message hammered excessively.

There was nothing good about it.

And I am not some Mel Gibson hater. I really enjoyed Apocalipto.

That sounds like every movie Gibson has made. They're torture porn wrapped in historical stories.

I did not like this movie at all. I don't get why it was so well reviewed and acclaimed.

A friend loaned me a DVD screener for it when it was up for awards during it's theatrical run and I couldn't wait to hit stop and return it to her.

Avengers - blows my mind that this movie made so much money.

TFA - was disappointed in this one, though I can give people a pass for thinking they liked it since they were probably just so happy to see the way past their prime OT actors back in those roles, but...

TLJ - this one was total fucking trash and it makes me legit angry that people like it.

The 5th Element. Everyone I know adores that movie and I think it's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Everything about it - the characters, the acting, the design, the plot - fucking ridiculous.

I know I'm hardly in the minority, and was listed before in this thread, but Avatar. Birdman is another I didn't love. And any movie from Terrence Malick.

I agree. Although I did like the last 30 minutes or so when the action started picking up. The first 2 hours or so are dreadful though.

Which is funny considering Mabuse’s post is at the top of this page, I didn’t initially see the Gibson movie he was referring to. After reading his post I just assumed he was talking about The Passion of the Christ.

And I actually liked Hacksaw Ridge, but yeah, the message was hammered excessively. Although to be honest, after reading about the real Desmond Doss. Some of the overly theatrical stuff was pretty accurate so I can’t really fault Gibson for that.

Same here. I watched it again last year for its 20th anniversary, the first time since it came out, and I thought the same thing. I said as much here and in other forums and it was as if I'd trashed VERTIGO in front of a bunch of Hitchcock fans.

Yep. I was convinced it was just the people in my social circle but then I saw the lovebirds that movie gets across the internet and thought I’d gone insane.

Same here and I had the same reaction - reading about what the real guy did made the movie seem restrained in parts.

From Wikipedia:

Other changes to the story occur near the end of the movie when Doss is placed on a stretcher. In real life, Doss had another wounded man take his place on the stretcher. After treating the soldier, a sniper shot fractured Doss' arm and he crawled over 300 yards to safety after being left alone for five hours. Gibson omitted this from the film because he felt that the audience would not find the scene believable.

Ditto. While I'll admit that visually it can look cool at times, the storyline was just terrible, as was the vast majority of the acting. In general, aside from Leon: The Professional and maybe La Femme Nikita, I've always kind of viewed Luc Besson as being massively overrated.

Often

Most of the Marvel movies suck.
Wonder Woman was not female empowering, it just disguised as that, but turned to be opposite in the end.
Get Out was not scary nor very funny. It's was just decent.

I just hated A Beautiful Mind, particularly because they really white-washed and overly-romanticized the real person and his story.

This is me as well.

Not sure it really is being an asshole and not just having common sense, but the Fast and the Furious shite. I see the same people ripping any of the new Star Wars films apart are some that GUSH over this crap and give the, it's just entertainment excuse. Which it is not it is pure shit, you shouldn't be able to "turn of your brain" enough to enjoy these and breathe at the same time.

Where were all you guys last year when everyone here except me was ranking 5TH ELEMENT as a modern classic?

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

I love 5TH ELEMENT. I won't say it's the greatest movie in the world, or that it makes much sense, or how bizarre it is that Chris Tucker shows up in the third act FROM A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MOVIE ENTIRELY, or how the plot is little more than soup and milk crates, but goddamn I have so much fun watching it.

Shit movie? I won't argue that. Fun movie? Undoubtedly. But then I thought Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance >>> Thor.

I didn’t like How to Train Your Dragon. It has a really bad script.

Dances with Wolves and Save the Last Dance

What was so special about Julia Stiles and her wooden acting?
