Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..
You know the drill. Everyone you know liked the movie, it was popular, but you didn't like it and felt the need to stay mum about it amongst peers because you didn't want to be the "asshole" who didn't like it, or maybe you just didn't feel like arguing.
I remember everyone liking Deep Impact when it opened, I thought it was terrible and took itself too seriously. I have also found that in circles of cinephiles, you should never admit to disliking Barry Lyndon or Amadeus...

I have never liked Titanic. That's a minor sin, but my daughter has never liked The Godfather. She keeps that very, very secret.

I didn’t like Saving Private Ryan. Yes, amazing battle sequence, which had nothing to do with the story. Totally manipulative filmmaking. I was glad when it lost best picture. Not a generally popular opinion.

Goodfellas is one of the worst gangster movies ever made, if not one of the worst films of the 1990s.

I never really have an issue saying that I don't care for a popular movie, no need to hide that opinion.
I think i've mentioned it before, but the last few years i've been more accepting that in those cases I'M the one who's different and for whatever reason a well liked movie just didn't work for me. I hate it when someone acts like they're smarter then everyone else for being in the minority and somehow on to something that everyone else hasn't caught on to yet.

I just watched The Wizard of Oz for the first time ever the other day because my kids wanted to see it. I can't remember the last time I was that bored during a movie.

^^^Yep, i barely said a word in the review thread, I didn’t feel like fighting about it. I’ll be right in the end when Kathleen Kennedy is fired.

Yeah, I’m sure the $4.3 billion her films have made Disney over the last two years has her head on the chopping block.

Here's one movie that I hated and everyone else loved, "The Hangover". But I never stayed mum. I was the "asshole" right out of the gate saying how much I thought it sucked.

Nah, I’m an asshole and I don’t keep it quiet.
It is.
I thought that the first time I saw it. Then I aged and now I love it.
I saw this ... don’t recall anything about it. I remember the documentary more than the movie.
Well, yes, but it was entertaining.
Titanic is one of the worst movies ever made. Your daughter does need to be punished though.
Or any QT movie. Again, I have aged and have learned to take what I like in his movies and that I should just leave the rest.
SPR and just about any other Tom Hanks movie ... all manipulative crap. I’m looking at you Philadelphia.
I’m with Groucho.
Never saw it. Never had any desire to.
OK, that is an unusual opinion ...

Not a fan of Iñárritu at all, at least his English language stuff.
Thought Babel was a boring pointless mess and a pale rip off of far better works by Altman and PTA.
Thought Birdman was pretentious, obnoxious and borderline unwatchable. The only Oscar it deserved was for Michael Keaton and he didn't even win.
Thought The Revenant was a beautifully shot snuff film that I NEVER EVER want to suffer through again.

Never understood the love for Guardians of the Galaxy. It's not terrible but just about everyone I know went gaga for it, and it left me with a shrug. The third weakest of the MCU movies, following Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World, IMHO. Still have yet to see GOTG2 so maybe IM2 will eventually get a reprieve from the bottom ranks.
