I hated this movie and I had to mention it and never understood why it was a hit. Maybe 1990 except for Goodfellas was a bad year in film.

All the time. The group of friends that I often see movies with have almost come to expect me to be the dissenting opinion on most movies, and I'm fine with that.

Star Trek (2009). It was like taking an intelligent dignified, principled woman and forcing her to do scat porn.

Apparently I'm that guy for Crazy Rich Asians. I get the cultural appeal and it has some cute bits, but a lot of it is remarkably stupid and the wealth-porn obsession that totally dominates the movie is pretty offensive in my book.
Hooray that an all Asian cast can star in a hit movie. I just wish it was a better one.

E.T.

I will argue forever it's bottom tier Spielberg and an honestly awful film. Hated it as a kid, hate it more as an adult.

Every time someone bumps a recent thread, I have to scroll through the previous pages to see if I posted so that I don't repeat something I already said.

In any event, more recently I'm that guy with BLACK PANTHER, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT. But I said very little, if anything, about the latter two on this forum, and only one short post about BP.

Ash, I think I speak for everyone here : we just assume you dislike every English-language film made after 1961.

You've been here almost 10 years and never realized there's an indicator showing which threads you've posted in?

On the page that lists all the forum threads, if you click the number of replies in the thread on the right hand side it also let's you show who posted and you can easily find your own. The subsequent link that pops up does a search that returns replies from just that user.

Oh, c'mon, give me SOME credit--I have tons of favorites from the 1960s and quite a few from the '70s. That line would read more accurately if it said 1981.

Thanks, Fumanstan, I didn't know that. I'll try it.

Care to back that up wit some examples and evidence? It’s a brilliant film about empathy and friendship and sacrifice and ultimately, coping with divorce.

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

For me it was Rogue One. One of those deals with assigned seats, and I had to sit away from my friends. Two people next to me got up and left halfway through, so I figured it was kinda universal that this was a shitty movie. Thus I expected my friends to feel the same when I met up with them afterwards and I was saying "geez, did that suck or what??". I was genuinely surprised to see them all gushing over it. One was even mentioning it was his second viewing and I seriously asked "Why????"
Coincidentally or not, I haven't been invited to hang out with those people since.

Same. Supposedly the first film my parents took me to at the Drive-In Movie Theatre. I remember watching it as a kid but then I probably didn't watch it again between the ages of 6-mid-twenties. I picked up the Blu-Ray when it came out and thus watched it again for the first time in ages. I loved it, and still think it holds up well. In my top three Spielberg movies, along with Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind...Raiders of the Lost Ark would round up the top four, I guess...

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

The Searchers. Never been a giant John Wayne fan (even though I own most of his movies), but this one has never appealed to me. I know people like Scorsese and Schrader are giant fans, but to me it's just an okay movie. I especially don't like the "humour" that one character brings...I just feel it's odd that this is so highly acclaimed...

Dog Day Afternoon. Decent movie. Love John Cazale. But again, I've always felt this was overrated. I'd take Lumet's Network or Prince of the City or Serpico over this one any day...

The Seventh Seal. I said it. Bergman made way better movies than this. Have no idea what the acclaim is all about.

Nixon. I actually generally like Oliver Stone films, but this was terrible. Despite the good acting/casting, it was a horrible movie. JFK was a hundred times better than this...Horrible, horrible movie...

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

My advice for The Searchers: It shouldn’t be anyone’s first western, first John Ford film, or first John Wayne film. It’s like the apotheosis of the western up to that time. Just as Stagecoach was in the ‘30s. One needs to be somewhat familiar with what westerns were like in the 40’s and 50’s to appreciate how dark and subverted Ford was going.

I reckon for me it would be Unbreakable, and I can't quite put my finger on why. I just remember that I started my angry ranting right there in the theater during the closing credits.

Not that I completely disliked it but I still maintain Wonder Woman isn’t worth the praise that was heaped on it. It’s a fairly average comic/superhero movie that was deemed better than it was because it stars a woman and with the current climate was viewed as important.

I remember getting into an angry argument with my mom during the closing credits of We Were Soldiers. I usually take a few hours to a day to absorb a movie I had just seen in the theater to make my final decision on whether I liked it or not. I had never disliked a movie so much as soon as it ended than I did with WWS.

That reminds me of Hacksaw Ridge. Every single thing in that film is big, dumb, and on the nose. Anyone who likes that movie has a personality disorder.

You actually saw the movie? In the movie's thread you did nothing but bitch about the movie without seeing it.
