So what do you call the putz that replied without reading the posts? I never said that I didn't like the movie. In fact, if you had bothered to read the thread before you posted, I said that I hope the film is good. What I said, is that the trailers and promos for it did not look good in my opinion. Some people agreed with me. So sorry if that differs from your opinion and hurts your oh so delicate sensitivities, but that's life. Grow up and learn to live with the fact that not everyone is always going to agree with you.
It's Friday, Friday...yeah, yeah, yeah, relax be happy, the DOW dropped 666 points so it's the end of the world as we know it, let's dance put on your red shoes and dance the blues.

Seacrest out!

I almost included that one in my post as a footnote, but I decided against it since the number of "a$$holes" who didn't like that movie aren't in short supply nowadays.

I agree about waiting until you actually see a movie first before mentioning it in this thread. Perhaps start a “trailers you hate” thread? Not trying to make waves with my suggestion.

I must be very easy to please, but I enjoy about 95% of all the movies listed. I feel like a lemming now.

I’ll agree with this. And don’t even get me started on her magical Frozen powers. I’m willing to buy into the movie’s premise of having the Midas touch with ice but just how the hell does that give her the power to make a snowman come to life?!

I’ve only seen Tangled once and don’t remember much about it but I don’t recall having the same distaste for it like I did after seeing Frozen.

I’m the exact opposite. The Fast and Furious movies were shit until they got to the fifth in the series.

Nothing wrong with that. If a movie entertains/involves me, I let a lot slide. I like some really lousy movies

If it doesn't, every single flaw becomes so ridiculously obvious.

Case in point: Dark City does a ton of shit very wrong that I analytically hate, and yet I love that movie to no end so it doesn't bother me so much.

Tangled is far superior in every way, except for the soundtrack. Frozen trumps it there.

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

I have disliked, some intensely, every Nolan film I have ever seen except for the one everyone hates, Insomnia, and to a lesser extent the first Batman movie. He gas great trailers, though.

I hate The Hateful Eight, I couldn't even watch it a second time. I will give it credit for making 70mm a thing again though.

I hate Endless Sunshine....with a fiery burning passion

Winter Soldier is among my least favorite of all the Marvel movies, though I also dislike Captain America in general.

I think Cuarons Harry Potter is one of the worst. The first two actually feel the most like the books.

I think TLJ is one of the dumbest movies ever, with an incredibly bad plot, Why people like it completely escapes me.

As bad as TLJ is I think Blade Runner 2049 is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I hated every scene actually.

Speaking of Villaneuve I loved all his movies up until Arrival which was a Nolan film where I knew the twist like 2 mins in, and Blade Runner which is just painfully awful

I dont hate it, but Three Billboards is massively overrated.

I also utterly loathe The Wizard of Oz,

2001 is mt least favorite Kubrick movie.

All that being said, I enjoy Groundhog Day immensely every time I see it though when I watched it yesterday I realized I could almost recite it.

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

For what it’s worth johnnysd, I loved Insominia before Nolan became Nolan.

And even thought I don’t share the same view on all movies (of course not), when we have liked something I feel like we saw the same movie, and even when you don’t like it, I can see where you’re coming from mostly, even if I don’t share that view at all (you seem to focus more on plot than atmosphere, I could be mistaken).

I know you weren’t asking for that reply, but I do look forward to hearing your thoughts (as I do from almost everyone, save for Paul_SD; sorry Paul, I can’t follow your ranty/rambling reviews, but I like you despite all that).

Can I ask why you hate The Wizard of Oz? I find that fascinating.

Re: Ever Been the A$$hole Who Didn't Like the Movie..

Nolan's a weird one for me.

I don't think his movies are bad by any stretch, but I find most of them unengaging. His films are technically proficient, but just lack something that prevents me from wanting to revisit them.

Memento. Batman Begins. Dark Knight Rises. Inception. Interstellar. These films did nothing for me.

The Dark Knight I found to be very good, and The Prestige is one of my favorite films of the twenty-first century. Like I said, it's weird. He's either hot or cold with me, mostly cold.

Here’s my theory on that: he’s good at making a well-oiled, all-parts-are-moving -right movies, but he’s not the best at creating relationships for his characters any deeper than what the plot requires. He’s more concerned about cinematic thrill than building his characters up to where we care about those thrills. I think the closest he has come to doing both have been probably Insomnia, Inception, and Interstellar (for Damon, a very effective role imo). I highly enjoy his other movies too, but I get where he comes off cold, because he sets up his scripts that way. This is just my silly theory, take for what you will.

Pretty much. Nolan uses characters as chess pieces but rarely establishes a reason for the audience to care about/relate with them. I'm fine with that since the game is fun to watch, but it's definitely a flaw of his.

My dislike for The Matrix in 1999 was only matched by my friends' dislike of me and my crappy little opinion.

That movie stinks. Always has, always will.

Yes, it is something I realized recently. You are correct that a good plot is more important to me than atmosphere.

In terms of the Wizard of Oz I just find the whole thing noisy, unpleasant and vaguely creepy. I mean the whole follow the yellow brick road segment with the munchkins just makes me want to claw my eyes out. I realize its one of the most beloved movies ever, but it just makes me cringe. Everything is just so loud and repeated over and over and I just get uncomfortable watching it, like there's some hidden subversive message in it that no on else is noticing. I do like Somewhere over the Raimbow though.

The original book was a political statement disguised as a children's book. At the time it was published the U.S. was contemplated moving from the gold standard to the silver standard. Frank L. Baum was a stern supporter of sticking with the gold standard. "Follow the yellow brick road" is code for sticking with the gold standard.

Although I'm a general fan of superhero films, I still collect them on release week, I am finding them all too similar as well. Spider-Man Homecoming I guess was a good movie to many. But as the third go-round I was very tired of the concept and found Holland's Spider-Man pretty whiny and nails on the chalkboard when he spoke. Keaton's performance saved the movie for me.

I'll be on a business trip in a couple weeks and I usually go to the movies at night on one hand I'm looking forward to Black Panther. On the other I think of Spider-Man, Justice League and Thor and feel as though I've had enough super hero for a while.

Even after Ragnarok? That was the best superhero movie from last year for me, maybe even the best Marvel Studios movie period. Day one 4K Ultra HD disc buy for me, but to each their own.

I enjoyed Thor quite a bit but missed Kat Denning and Natalie Portman's presence. Loved Wonder Woman. Not all that thrilled with SM or JL. Both decent for a one time watch but won't rent and certainly not buy the media.
