I thought due to regulations they aren't able to own more than one of the major networks and thus aren't buying the Fox network?

They aren't buying the network. They are buying 20th Century Fox, which owns Family Guy. Fox Network just airs it. Similiar to Modern Family is owned by 20th Century Fox, but ABC airs it. WB owns Gotham, but Fox airs it.

They aren't buying the network itself, but they are buying the production company that makes the TV.

Ah, interesting, so the Fox network isn't going to have a production company attached to it? Sorry for the derail.

They don't necessarily have one "attached" to it now since they air shows from various production companies, though 20th Century Fox is the leading supplier. But, yes, "New Fox" or whatever it is called would need to try and find a new main supplier. Could turn into just a reality TV network.

They only have, I think, fourteen or fifteen hours a week of primetime programming, and they can easily fill that with cooking, singing, dancing, and dating reality shows, along with sports programming and Sunday night animation.

I wonder if we aren't entering a future where broadcast television transitions to mostly reality, and scripted programming moves to the streaming services, and cable/satellite becomes a wasteland of tv reruns, more "reality," infomercials, and old movies. Someone will make an observation that Bad Boys 2 is always playing on at least one cable channel at any given moment.

I wonder what the cast contracts look like. Is everyone locked in for Vol. 3? If not, what would Disney do if they all banded together and chose to walk?

Move their resources and talent to revitalizing the Fantastic Four franchise.

I'm sure that the main cast were locked in for at least three GOTG films as soon as they were hired. If they decided to walk now it would be lawsuit city.

Yep, looks like they're all locked in for three GOTG films plus "a couple more" (read: Infinity War).

Casualties in Infinity War pt. 2. Well, maybe Groot and Rocket live but mysteriously sound different.

I am actually curious if they offered Bradley Cooper the job yet. Would he take it if they did? If he did would it ease tensions with the cast? A Star Is Born is getting good buzz...

I don’t know... he used to date Saldana. Might be awkward. I don’t think they have much interaction on these. Maybe they’re cool. But there were some stories they weren’t.

They should hire Dan Harmon to direct. He deleted his twitter account since a while ago he posted a “funny” video about fucking babies as a TV pilot. Hollywood really isn’t doing itself any favors in terms of exposing how crazy they appear to be.

Just to clarify, I think the witch hunt from both sides is getting out of hand. Judge people by their actions, not their words. Gunn seams to be a great guy from all those who have worked with him.

THIS.

It's past time for Disney to create another Miramax for movies that aren't about unicorns and fluffy bunnies.

If a replacement is chosen would like to see Boots Riley get it. Sorry to Bother You tonally reminded me a bit of Super, Gunn's last pre Guardians film.

[christopher walken] I ... AM ... Groot? [ /christopher walken]

Or should that be Christopher Plummer?

Anyway, should the solidarity of the cast be #IamGunn on social media?
