The weight of the proton packs by estimate would be over 40 pounds easily. Its not believable for being Ghostbusters when three of these women are shrimps.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016) - The Trailer

Dude.
My mother is about 5'2". She's maybe 100lbs, if that. She can carry 40 pounds or more without breaking a sweat, and I guarantee she'd put most dudes here (myself included) to shame.
And she's 64 and not remotely athletic.

And, what, do you think pregnancy isn't the same shit? Women gain 15 to 40 pounds during pregnancy (the child + water weight + whatever else), and for the last two months especially, it's not like they can remove the weight whenever they want. It's there 24/7.

I mean, what the fuck are we even arguing here? Women can't carry 40 pound backpacks?? You guys seriously believe this shit?

Yes, not only that women are not believable as Ghostbusters because no women are garbage men. Which is what the ghostbusters are based off of.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016) - The Trailer

I wonder how accurate this is.

http://www.gbfans.com/faq/equipment/proton-pack/#6

Q. How much does a Proton Pack weigh?

A. According to various sources in Ghostbusters, the average proton pack weighs around 30 - 35 lbs fully loaded with batteries. In Ghostbusters 2 packs were developed that weighed a lot less by having different batteries.

bluelite may be joking but the late night tirade from B5Erik starting here (and going on for a few more posts) was dead serious:

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk/...l#post12796080

you gotta admire the commitment to that line of argument though.

Blah..Blah..Blah... You pick one city with a handful of women who do a man's job. Let me guess you think gender is a construct, which are the same people behind this movie, who are trying to make an indoctrinating piece of trash to force men out of STEM(science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields. Besides B5Erik is right.

Holy shit, you are hilarious. "I'm wrong? Well you're probably trying to keep men out of STEM fields. Also, women still can't carry backpacks!"

Here's another.

http://onmilwaukee.com/buzz/articles...bagewoman.html

Mental Floss estimates there are about 1,000 female garbage collectors, about 1% of the field. So don't worry, the field of garbage collecting is largely safe from ladies. As is the field of talking garbage on the Internet.

This ended up exactly where the closed Ghostbusters shemake / shequel thread left off and will likely suffer the same fate.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016) - The Trailer

We need to get off this backpack thing. Here's an argument.

James Cameron has been making feminist action movies his whole career. And I've never heard a complaint. It's because the films themselves are good. This doesn't look good. It's just that simple. If it looked good no one would complain. Just as no one complained about the strong female roles in Aliens and Terminator and The Abyss and True Lies.

Yeah, but this is actually hilarious this time instead of just exceptionally obnoxious.

Love him or not, James Cameron (up until Avatar 2 - 4, which remains to be seen) doesn't seem to just make cash grabs, which this definitely feels like.

I still don't think it'll be as terrible as people are making it out to be, but I'm easily amused.

Don't move the goalposts. Your claim was, "no women are garbage men". "A handful of women" is not "no women".

And the article has a photo of one of the women.

She doesn't look any more buff than McKinnon or Wiig. Maybe you should consider the possibility that the dearth of female garbage collectors isn't due to physical shortcomings.

No, he's a MGTOW, actually.

Yeah, but, she's only carrying recycling. That shit is light, son. Like probably 15 pounds max. I think this proves his point more than it proves yours.

Spoiler:
/s obviously.

There's nothing wrong with being a MGTOW or an MRA (and I am not talking about the extremist, misogynistic type). MRA's especially can have valid concerns. And if they aren't being misogynists, I'd like to think of them as egalitarians (as I would myself). But some of the stuff in this thread is definitely out there. 40 lb. proton packs? That was just weird.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016) - The Trailer

I don't identify as MGTOW or MRA, but see there are valids concerns from both groups. The world constantly belittles men, feminists who create fake issues about Mansplaining, manspreading, thinking male dominated STEM fields are a problem when men are interested in them and women are not, and deeming any form of masculinity toxic. Then on top of that taking away every thing male centric in pop culture, to fuel their unending sense of entitlement and narcissism. I have said before, but I don't feel safe around women my own age, and don't know when I will Anytime soon.

Yes, but you have to remember that this is stuff that comes from extreme feminists, it's not representative of an entire gender. What do you mean by not feeling safe?

Well said. But again, people were railing against "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "The Force Awakens" because they viewed them as feminist propaganda. It's too bad, too, because they missed out on two damn good movies. I'm sure a lot of those same people downvoted that GB trailer. And I'm sure a lot downvoted it because it just looks bad.
