To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

He's been beaten, bullied, and burned- and that's just the beginning of his story...

Kane Hodder has murdered more people on screen than anyone in cinematic history!

Kane’s story reveals struggles and horrific experiences that encapsulates his complex life. It is the story of his dehumanizing childhood filled with torment and bullying in Sparks, Nevada; to his adolescence on a small military island; through his near-death burn accident; and his ultimate rise to the unforgettable horror icon, Jason Voorhees, in the Friday the 13th movies and the upcoming Friday the 13th video game. With powerhouse performances in over 100 movies, Kane has killed more people on screen with his hands than anyone in history. He further solidified his iconic killer status by becoming Victor Crowley in the cult-classic Hatchet trilogy.

What is To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story?

To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story is the definitive and exclusive biographical documentary on horror icon, Kane Hodder, featuring co-stars and colleagues, such as Cassandra Peterson (Elvira: Mistress of the Dark), Robert Englund, Bruce Campbell, Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, Danielle Harris, Sean S. Cunningham, Adam Green, Twiztid, and many others.
This “pull your heartstrings, then cut your head off” documentary covers Kane’s story and includes exclusive stories, including:

-Never-before-seen footage of insider thoughts on Freddy Vs. Jason;

-The true story of Kane’s burns for the first time on film;

-Kane meeting the woman who sheltered him when he was burned; and,

-Kane meeting the doctor who saved him from death’s door.

Could be an interesting watch. I've always liked his Jason and he's always seemed like a cool guy.

I'd be interested in this.

I've commented about this before, but I've always felt like Hodder really enjoyed the opportunity to kill people. If any of his acquaintances showed up dead, I'd immediately consider him a suspect.

I liked how he also played a security guard in Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason kills him.

I'm not sure a documentary needs to be made out of EVERYTHING horror but if I flip by this on cable or Netflix I'd stop to watch it.

Also, the Hatchet Trilogy is a whole hell of a lot of fun!

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

I met him at a horror convention a few years ago. He was one of the nicest people I've met at one of those things. I got a pic with him where he's mock strangling me... his suggestion. It turned out great.

Whenever I read about interactions with Kane, he is always described as friendly and engaging. He seems really cool.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

One of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Of all the times I've seen him I've never once seen him frustrated with fans or having to be in a chair for hours on end signing things for them.

I read his book couple years ago and it's pretty good. Sad at times. Funny at times. And sometimes just down right angry at what he went through in some situations.
While this documentary might be most of what the book consists of, it's nice to be able to see him personally talking about it on film and also seeing all the respect he gets from his co-stars and other icons of the genre.

Curious what more he'll say about not being in Freddy Vs. Jason. That had to have been disappointing to have not been asked to be in it when it was something that the fans wanted for so long and given that he basically is Jason to many.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

Nothing against Ken, but his Jason in that movie was just really lame. I know for a fact, Kane and Robert would have made that movie so much better. I'd almost be in favor of a remake but I think Robert is done putting on the makeup.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

Wait, so this guy played Jason in Friday the 13th 7 through 10? And that makes him some cult figure? Maybe if he'd been in 1-10, but I don't get it. Those are terrible movies. Well 7 is okay, but the rest are shit.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

Your post seems like questioning so how can you say such when you have no idea what the guy has done to become the cult figure he is. Perhaps you should research a little before making your opinion.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

Yeah the films starring Hodder aren't the greatest I agree (although I like VII and to a lesser extent VIII and X) but he was awesome as Jason.

He is Jason for many, many hardcore fans. He's been popping up in more and more direct-to-video horror releases the past few years.

He was an awesome Jason, he just wasn't in the best movies. It's not that hard to separate the two.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

Just got back from a screening and I have to say,... this is worth a watch. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
This isn't just a docu about a guy who played Jason or a couple other characters. This is a real story that most fans probably have no idea about. From early on in his career to the hardships the guy went through. There's some rough shit in this story and goes deep into his life that's never been told before.
It ran just over one hour and 48 minutes but the BD will have an additional 90 minutes.

He goes into this a lot and you can feel the disappointment. He was screwed and was never given an answer as to way they didn't go with him, but he does say how they chose Ken.
I really recommend seeing this.

Is there a release date for the Blu-ray? I looked on the website for the film but didn’t seem to see anything.

Re: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story

Looking forward to this. I saw a few clips on YT.

On the subject, what's up the the F13th (re?) reboot/remake? After that flopper from a few years ago, the fans are ENTITLED to a palate cleanser, dammit!
