Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion
The black population is what, 15% of Americans? So should 50% of movie rolls be for African-Americans? Fuck em all. Hope they get 0%.
Nice that he could talk about ANYTHING but racism in his monologue.
Also love the very first movie nominated for anything was Straight Outta Compton.

I thought Rock nailed it. I think he's a pretty genuine guy who's extremely funny. I may not agree with all of his points, but I think he puts his perspective out there in a very honest, non-hateful way.

What's with the special thanks running list on the bottom of the screen? It only has first names. I hope the ones got named know when they got named.

I didn't see an issue with Rock's opening, it was obvious he was going to address the whole boycott stuff and he did it well.

I thought it was great until the end, where he basically said we need equal opportunity for roles. Well, again, should a black guy get the same shot at a roll like Leo's? I'd rather have a more historically believable movie than one that panders to a certain group.

Rock nailed that monologue. Couldn't ignore the subject or write it off with just a couple of quick jokes.

I wouldn't have had a problem with him addressing the issue, but it's all he fucking talked about for the entire 10 minutes of his monlogue. Then Rock introduces Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron, one whiter than the next. 15 minutes later, we get a clip with black people added in "Joy", "The Revenant", "The Danish Girl" and "The Martian". Then that Stacy Dash moment. And we're only 40 minutes into the show. Enough already!
