Re: 2016 Oscar Nominations

Please don't start with the narrative that Tom Hardy's scenery-chewing, mustache-twirling villain was somehow better acting than Leo. That's crap.

I am happy as long as Sly wins. He was robbed when "Cobra" was not even nominated.

Not the first time that's happened.

Why Leo winning Oscar would be bad for acting

I kinda agree.... Hardy felt like a few dicks I met through my travels.
Leo felt like a stage actor from a Shakespearean play
Love both actors though so I be happy if Leo wins

Re: 2016 Oscar Nominations

By the way, I've heard some rumors there's a chance either Spotlight or The Big Short could win Best Picture. Mind you, I think The Revenant is the exact type of movie that AMPAS voters want to win, though.

^Wow, way to cover your bases by saying that any of the three frontrunners could win Best Picture.

But all the lead actors nominate do (except for Redmayne which I can't speak to since I didn't watch The Danish Girl). But Damon, Fassbender and Cranston do almost all the heavy lifting in their respective movie.

What sets DiCaprio apart is that his is the only physically intense role in contention, but that alone doesn't set his performance at a higher level.

Ultimately I won't be disappointed if he wins, he's not who I would pick, but that's par for the course with 90% of the Oscars anyway - I'm the guy holding out for the .000000001% chance that Brooklyn wins Best Picture.

Chris Rock Posts Cryptic Oscars ‘#Blackout’ Tweet.

Chris Rock posted a cryptic tweet ahead of the Oscars on Sunday.

Rock, who will be hosting the annual awards show, wrote, " See you Sunday... #blackout #oscars," along with a video of television static.

Oscars producer Reginald Hudlin previously said that Rock is going to pull no punches when hosting this year amid the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. "Chris is hard at work," Hudlin said. "He and his writing staff locked themselves in a room." Hudlin went on to say that Rock declared, "I'm throwing out the show I wrote and writing a new show."

The producer says he believes that Rock will be able to navigate the controversy, saying that the comedian is "thorough." "He's that brilliant, and I have 1,000 percent confidence that he will deliver something that people will be talking about for weeks," he said.

"And, yes, the Academy is ready for him to do that ... They're excited about him doing that. They know that's what we need. They know that's what the public wants, and we deliver what the people want."

So.... It's not about the movies, it's not about the Oscars, it's not about the actors, creators and craftsmen being honored, it's about Chris Rock. Got it.

Because the Academy Awards are about the movies and performances and not a parade of vanity for actors, producers, and directors.

I hope he comes out as Nat X and doesn't break character for the entire show.

I love how they bitch about how making changes to the academy is not a good thing and yet the ones that are there don't even do what they're supposed to.
