Count me in. Lucas was kinda foolish to let this material lie fallow for so long. The comics and videogames were okay, but nothing really compares to seeing it on the screen. I wonder if we could get Harrison Ford to record "current" footage of an aged Han Solo telling his life story to a Resistance archiver.

Lucas already told his Han Solo story. Some things should be allowed to rest. Shit I would rather see a Poe Dameron movie, who basically is Han rebooted.

Not just 1, not 2, but 3 Han Solo movies reportedly planned.

Always thought there is enough Han backstory for a trilogy

Movie 1: Han joins the empire. Grows to hate it. Movie ends when he saves Chewbacca.
Movie 2: Han and Chewie begin smuggling. Meet Lando & Han wins the Falcon
Movie 3: Han starts working for Jabba. Boba in there somewhere. Ends when he dumps his load and goes to Cantina looking for work.

I've been thinking both the Rogue and Han movies could be turned into 2-3 films...hopefully they're good enough that we want them. What if enough of the Rogue cast lives on that we get an in-between SW and Empire film, and/or a post Jedi film showing them fighting in the Battle of Jaku?

I'm surprised anyone takes stvn1974 seriously.

I'm not a very big Star Wars fan, but as a casual viewer this seems interesting to me. Don't see any issues with the casting of the actor either. Solo is much more interesting to me then Boba Fett, whom I still don't understand the love for given what he actually does on screen.

I for one am looking forward to it. From the instance Han met Lando in ESB I've wanted to see the back story between them. I'm not an extended universe guy so I want to see it on screen. Why are Chewy and Han together? How did Han get the Falcon from Lando. It must be the comic geek in me that loves origin stories.

All questions I don't need answered. I guess everything has to be spoon feed.

That's the joy of it. You don't have to see it. Your questions are all answered and your story has a beginning, middle and end. I'd like to see more of the story so I'll go see it.

Aren't the Brian Daley books prior to ANH?

re: Star Wars Anthology: Untitled Han Solo Film (2018, D: Miller & Lord)

I seem to recall 6 novels in the old canon that told Han's history. The first three were done back when the OT was out and then they did three more maybe in the 90s? I also seem to recall the third book in the second trilogy "wrapped around" the original three books from the 70s-80s.

There's plenty of ideas out there if they want it.

re: Star Wars Anthology: Untitled Han Solo Film (2018, D: Miller & Lord)

Han Solo is getting a gambling buddy — his standalone “Star Wars” spinoff film is casting a young Lando Calrissian.

Fans have speculated about which of the characters from Solo’s complicated past might turn up in “Han Solo,” and now we know at least one. The Cloud City cassanova was originally played by Billy Dee Williams, and the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is “Chance” — perhaps a reference to the character’s appreciation of cards and dice.

Though we met Lando in “The Empire Strikes Back” — in which Darth Vader forced him to betray Han, Leia, Chewbacca and C-3PO when they turned up at Cloud City — he has a long history with Solo that we may see parts of in the new standalone film. Lando famously lost the Millennium Falcon to Solo in a game called sabacc — though he got to fly it again in “Return of the Jedi.”

Williams reprised the role of Lando in the “Star Wars Rebels” episodes “Idiot’s Array” & “Siege of Lothal.”

Alden Ehrenreich was introduced as young Han Solo at Star Wars Celebration Convention last month in London.

The “Han Solo” solo film is being directed by “Lego Movie” and “Jump Street” team Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Reps for Lucasfilm declined to comment.

re: Star Wars Anthology: Untitled Han Solo Film (2018, D: Miller & Lord)

Not long ago, news surfaced that the unofficially-titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is looking to bring a young Lando Calrissian into its fold. And, now, sources are saying Donald Glover is reportedly a frontrunner for the much-coveted role.

I like Glover, but based on previous roles, he just doesn't seem like the suave type.

I think he could be great in it. My initial reaction was that he is too old for the part. But, then I looked up the Billy Dee was 43 when Empire came out.

Han Solo Film: Tessa Thompson and Zoe Kravitz Among Those Testing for Female Lead (EXCLUSIVE)

Sources tell Variety that “Selma” and “Creed” star Tessa Thompson, “Power Rangers” Naomi Scott, and Zoe Kravitz tested in London this week for the female lead in the yet-untitled project.

With production not starting till early 2017, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have taken their time in meeting with talent for the mystery female character as well as the role of Lando Calrissian. This would mark the second round of tests; a previous round took place earlier this summer. While it seems like a decision is on the horizon, sources it could still be a couple weeks till one is made.

As for the role of Calrissian, reports had surfaced that “Atlanta” star and creator Donald Glover was high on the list, but Disney and Lucasfilm still wanted a second round of tests to be certain on their decision.

I hate this particular Star Wars project with the white-hot intensity of two Tatooine suns.

I feel it would be less about forced diversity that they have actresses of different backgrounds be up for the role.

Does this mean that the female lead is Sana Starros?

I'm more or less right there with you. It's simply the easiest laziest story in the Star Wars universe to jump on to, imo.

But, I wasn't too hyped when I'd first heard about Rogue One either, and that's looking to turn out pretty tasty.
