I saw this on Friday. I liked it and didn't mind the changes from the book.

I said this in the other thread but since Cline was involved in the screenplay, it’s basically like he rewrote the same story but substituted different pop culture elements for the same general idea. At pretty much every single step of the way.

Which as a fan of the book I actually kind of liked. I really didn’t know exactly what would happen next but I knew it was going to be something like *blank*.

After reading the book I had gone back and re-watched some of the trailers hunting for familiar scenes and knew right away that it wasn't going to be quite like the book.

Never read the book, so any changes didn't matter to me. But, I can understand some getting upset. I was pissed at the changes made to The Shining. Good movie but horrible adaptation.

I read the book in 4 days last week - over vacation. I LOVED the book... then I saw the movie and it was even better than I could have imagined. What a great flick... total Spielberg.

The movie is its own thing, but it really captures the spirit and flavor and overall storyline of the novel. I loved the book but equally loved the movie on its own terms.

I still wanted Tomb of Horrors and 2112 though... grr...

Saw a matinee today... I liked it more than I thought I would. Loved all of the pop culture references.

The book is in my stack to read this year.
