Re: Disney's Frozen 2

Took 10 years (and Tangled to be a success) to bring Frozen back from development hell and they pumped this script out in a year? Sounds promising.

Sounds completely irrelevant to me.

Re: Disney's Frozen 2

The script for the first Frozen stunk, so who cares if the new script is done? Let me know when they're done writing the great songs, because that's what carried the first film across the billion dollar finish line...that and the excellent design and color.

Re: Disney's Frozen 2

Basically, a lot of the legwork (character development, etc) is already done. Like Mabuse stated, just get some new songs done and create some drama.

Re: Disney's Frozen 2

Of the recent resurgence of Walt Disney Studios animation, I really think that Frozen is a lot worse than everything that has come after it, and is carried on the weight of 2 princesses and some catchy songs.

Yeah, try telling that to the millions of girls who absolutely love the movie and own everything marketing has put out.

Re: Disney's Frozen 2

Thank god my girls aren't like that. They like Frozen well enough, but it's never been their main thing. It's never really been watched on repeat in my home, and not because I told them that they couldn't, but mainly because the Lego Movie came out on home video not long after that, and that quickly became their favorite. I've had to sit thru that WAY more times than Frozen, which is just fine with me.

EDIT: Also, I just realized that my previous statement really only applies to Big Hero 6 and Zootopia. For some reason I thought Wreck-It Ralph was also after Frozen, but it was before.

Yeah that's a good one.

The message of Frozen: Let it go
How Disney feels about Frozen: Hold on as tight as you can for as long as you can...forever if possible

I would presume Anna since she is with Kristof. But if he has to ask to kiss her, what does he have to do to have sex with her? Finish each other's sandwiches?

Not really. A decade to put out a mostly average script vs churning something out in 12 months?

But to be fair, Disney knows the stakes are a lot higher now and will probably have a closer eye on it.

Yes really. Writing doesn't really work that way. Sure, they couldn't figure out how to make the film work early on when it was still the Snow Queen, but it sounds like once Lassetter came on board and they found the direction they wanted to go in, it moved along fine from there around 2012.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frozen..._film)#Origins

With the characters already established and set, most of the difficulties they had before become irrelevant since there's zero reason to think the'll be repeated. If the logic is 10 years = average script, are you saying they should spend 20 years for the new one? I don't really consider 1 year to script something "churning" either, every production is different.

‘Frozen 2’: Evan Rachel Wood, Sterling K. Brown in Talks for Sequel (EXCLUSIVE)
By JUSTIN KROLL
Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown are in talks to lend their voices to Disney’s “Frozen 2,” the sequel to the 2013 smash hit.

Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Josh Gad are returning to reprise their roles as Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, respectively.

Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will also be back to direct. Lee is writing the script, while Peter Del Vecho is producing the animated film.

“Frozen 2” is set to bow on Nov. 27, 2019.

“Frozen” generated nearly $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office and has become a merchandising juggernaut, breaking sales records on home video and at Disney’s stores. The musical won the Academy Award for best animated film in 2014.

The movie has also been adapted for the stage, becoming a Broadway hit and earning three Tony Award nominations this year.

Lee was recently named chief creative officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, following John Lasseter’s departure. She will split Lasseter’s duties with Pete Docter, who will oversee Pixar Animation Studios.

Both Wood and Brown are hot off the heels of their Emmy nominations, announced on Thursday morning. Wood is up for her work on HBO’s “Westworld,” and Brown is nominated for NBC’s “This Is Us” and Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

Re: Disney's Frozen 2 (11/27/19)

Those are interesting additions. I'm sure if Wood takes the role it means that her character will get a song, since she seems determined to leave a mark as a singer and this would give her a boost. FWIW, Idina Menzel's first big musical breakout role in rent had her playing half a of a lesbian couple...

Looks like Disney will have quite the one-two punch for the 2019 holiday season. Frozen 2 at Thanksgiving and then Episode 9 of SW for Christmas. Of course interest level for the new SW is now debatable.

Re: Disney's Frozen 2 (11/22/19)

Disney has some weird dark trailers for their movies recently. I remember the Cars 3 trailer having a similar tone. Nothing from this trailer makes me feel like I need to take my kids to see this movie in theaters.
