Re: Blade 4 - Rumors, news, etc.

This would be cool but I doubt Marvel(or more realistically Disney)would have any desire to do any R-rated movie. Unless they try and release it through another branch.

I don't think they could afford that. The Marvel Brand name is itself the brand as well. They'd have to flash it for sure. Flashing it adds a lot more attention to it.

Universal, in some degree, has Namor attached to them too.

So what's the deal with Hulk?

^Marvel has Hulk, but I don't know if Universal would still be entitled to a share if they made another Hulk solo movie. They still had a distribution deal for TIH, but I don't know if that deal is still in place or if it has expired or been bought out.

DEADLINE: Well, will you be bringing the vampire hunter back?

SNIPES: The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.

DEADLINE: Could we see you going the ever expanding Marvel Universe in another way?

SNIPES: That’s a possibility too. I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful. The first season of The Player will be interesting as well because we have drama and action, which is what I like. It gives me a chance to do a number of different things.

Re: Blade 4 - Rumors, news, etc.

Heck, I haven't seen a recent picture of him but if he still looks the part and he's fit, I'm sure that he will be open to a short TV season deal like Daredevil if a movie is not possible. Bring Blade as a guest star in one of the Netflix show and go from there. What else does he have to do? At this point I'm sure is Marvel that is trying to figure out whether the character has any value or not.

Blade is better suited for TV in my opinion. I would love to see what Netflix would do with the character.

He looked good in EX3.

Recently bought Blade on BD. It's aged well aside from some effects stuff and some minor BS. I really dig the tone on that one a lot.

The powers that be at Marvel have also been toying with the idea of adding characters like Punisher, Blade and Ghost Rider, but there are risks with each of those characters. Not only are they darker and more violent, but two of them require supernatural elements in order to tell their stories. The inclusion of these characters could send Netflix over to the goofy side, which is something they’re very afraid of Ghost Rider would also rely on CGI too much for the studio’s taste.

We saw how it played out for Punisher.

Violence, I could understand but they greenlighted a Dr. Strange movie so they better have an idea on how to deal with the supernatural.

Snipes is looking good and I will love to see him back as Blade.

I'm pretty sure they were just talking about Netflix. The movies are of course going to deal with the supernatural. They've already had Norse gods after all. It's just the Netflix series that seem to be taking a more realistic grounded approach. Although Iron Fist has already been greenlit for Netflix. I don't know much about Iron Fist, but isn't he a supernatural character? I thought he was.

I don't think Thor is a good example because the emphasis was on science and not the supernatural.

Iron Fist will be a good indication because in the comics, he has supernatural elements.

From what I recall (it was 9 years ago after all), it got better. David S. Goyer was the main creative person behind the series.

I initially hated "Sticky Fingaz" Jones as Blade, but I think he grew into it and made the character his own.

Barely Norse gods. They had soften that up.

Iron Fist has some Kung Fu mysticism going on in there, Holmes. Like a Shaw Brothers w/ some bit of the NYC crime added to it, yo. I know I'm going to geek when I see Luke Cage and Danny Rand one-lining their way to kick assery heaven.

It was not at all crap. It was actually quite good, and I didn't even like the first Blade.

In the show he had some good one liners that had me cracking up. He'd be a dick to his allies all the time. Like the following. Keep in mind that Shen is his fucking partner and isn't even being annoying or anything:

Shen: It's weird, isn't it?
Blade: What? That I haven't taken your head off yet.
Shen: You and Marcus, on the same side, gunning for the Purebloods. Guess the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Blade: I don't have a problem killing my friends either.

Snipes said he's in talks with Mavel about doing another Blade movie.

I find that VERY hard to believe for several reasons.

One reason is that Snipes is old. Wikipedia says he is 52. Marvel wants their actors to sign multi-movie contracts. How many Blade movies could Snipes possibly have in him at his age?

A second reason is that Marvel wants their own movies to be completely separate from movies that came before. Ang Lee's Hulk and all the previous Spider-Man movies are not part of the Marvel canon. Marvel therefore deliberately is recasting all the Hulk and Spidey roles so as to keep the confusion down. Why would they then use Snipes again? I very very very very seriously doubt the old Blade trilogy is going to be canon in the MCU.
