I wonder if there will be any slack jawed faggots in this movie.

Honestly a Predator film that took place in a snowy environment could be kind of cool if you ask me.

That already happened in AVP 1

I'd like to see Predators in WWI or WWII or in some sort of war conflict here on earth. Predators hunting down soldiers in a conflict type of zone. Like they've done in the comics.

I've always thought a Predator around the Civil War would make a cool movie.

That too. Hell, even the wild west without it turning into Cowboys Vs Aliens. Something better than that.

There's a Predator novelization that I can't remember the title of that takes place somewhere out in Alaska or the Northwest somewhere. It reminds of Predator meets Longmire. Granted, it has nothing to do with war but still.

Cold War was legit and that had snow.

EDIT - the one I couldn't remember the name of was Turnabout:

Deep in the Alaskan forest, ranger Sloan comes across the torn and bloody carcasses of Grizzly bears. Searching a human cause for the massacres, he discovers a team of poachers hunkered within the Alaska wilderness, waiting for the chance to score a big kill. He also finds evidence of the most fearsome killers in the universe: the Predators

Still holding out for this. No snow needed. And they can get Snyder to direct this so he can kill 2 franchises with one stone.

I know I'm in the minority but I loved Predator 2 and I wouldn't mind seeing a new movie set in the big city. Anything would be fine but no more jungle settings for a while!

The way the new Superman movie is going I wouldn't be surprised if Predator showed up at some point.

Re: Predator reboot (w/d: Shane Black)

mark me down for the following:

-love the original

-one of the few who really liked Predators.

-would still love to see a proper sequel with Ahnold.

-thought Blacks Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was great but his Iron Man 3 was AWFUL.

-Had NO IDEA Shane Black acted in the original Predator.

How about Predator in Afghanistan or the Middle East? Or is it too soon? I would say in Africa, but it would end up being too similar to the drug lords in Predator 2 (which the article misidentifies). How about a futuristic war? (Hell, how about Riddick vs. Predator?!)

I really do not think a reboot is in order. This is a series which should continue to move on in new iterations, not try to retread the ground it already covered. The three existing movies (not counting AVP films) are great extensions of each other. Hopefully this is a "reboot" in the way Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a reboot (in other words, not really).

Predators was a great concept. It seemed to have all the right elements (solid premise, talented ensemble cast, great setting) and made sure it touched on all the necessary waypoints ... however it felt just like that: it touched on all the necessary waypoints of a Predator story. It fell flat. The characters were not relatable. They weren't supposed to be likable, but there are ways to make the audience empathize with them. Each character's demise wasn't a furtherance of the story, it was a necessary step in getting to the end. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great. (That said, I still rewatch it from time to time because I, like Chadm, do enjoy it.)

Wasn't there a storyline in the comics about a squad of Navy SEALs who took on one of them? This is a really, really, really basic high-concept simple idea, it's pretty hard to go astray, though they have managed it many times. I'd like someone with a more meat-and-potatoes action/horror style (the old Neil Marshall one that they used to talk about sounded intriguing, or maybe someone like the Besson stable), but I can just imagine Black having some trash-talking military types, giving the script that zing that he does and a little bit of 90s flavor. Sounds like it could be lots of fun, have it be Predator vs. the Dirty Dozen, with Black's dialogue, it'll have lots of spice. I'm game. I really dug "grab some badasses and have them mix it up approach" of the last movie, simple, but effective.

There are so many great places that the predator could be taken. You can put one in the Civil War, WW2 or 2, the Vietnam war, the wild west, the crusades. It can really fit in any time period. Now would a studio spend a bunch of money to do something like Predator in the Civil War? Highly doubtful.

And how the hell can you reboot Predator anyway? With the exception of the first two, there's really no continuity in the movies. And even the continuity between the first two is slim at best.

I remember their being a comic story where a Predator landed on Earth before humans existed and I think it hunted a Sabertooth tiger or something like that. The book obviously had no dialogue but it was such a neat concept that basically let you know that the Predators were beyond ancient.

Why would you be in the minority? That movie has tons of supporters of it.

Predator 2 is epic. "Come and get it, El Scorpio is reeeeeaaady!"

I also agree that they better not change his look. It's an iconic design. If there are different tribes fine, but don't turn them into new aliens.

No love for Dekker writing the new screenplay?

Predator's got nards!
