Saw it. Won't hold back, I loved it. Lots of stuff for X-Men fans, and most importantly,
My only minor quibble was that it at times seemed like a movie was missing to fill in the gap between First Class and this installment. Also, what happened to the scene in the previews where Wolverine calls Mystique a "bitch"? I guess something for the deleted scenes section.
I am curious, given this one's ending, if the next movie might explore

I loved it as well... far from perfect but really damn entertaining. Quicksilver was the highlight for me as well. Could not get into Beast, his animation was too weird.

"Completely different plot"?! Are you serious? Sure, there were significant changes made, but the bulk of the plot is from the Claremont/Byrne story. I was, frankly, pretty shocked to see no "Based on a story by Chris Claremont and John Byrne" in the credits, just as a consideration.

Expectations were met! Man, with this installment & Winter Soldier, comic-book movies are certainly on a mega high right now (Didn't see ASM2) I'm still a big lover of X2 & First Class, but it looks like both of those might have been bumped on my list. I'm seeing this again this weekend. Might have a final verdict by then.
I really loved how the film's climax just seemed to build and build and build! The cross-cutting done on Fassbender's speech with the future's extermination was so beautifully done. Seeing the helplessness occuring on both sides was such a heartbreaker.
One really refreshing thing was how the "Slowing-down-of-time" sequences were handled. We've seen far too many of these scenes showing up in movies lately, but it really felt as if this film had took them to another level and re-invented how they should look....Which brings me to, uhhh, the guy that Evan Peters played. While I agree that he definetly was a scene-stealer, the real Quicksilver (For me, at least) has yet to appear. Even the in-joke that Peters says to Magneto was further proof why Fox should've just given the character 2nd thoughts (Just make him Speed Shepherd!)
Mcavoy was the biggest surprise to me though. Nailing the dispair and redemption so wonderfully. Loved the airport scene with him & Raven.
Another scene-stealer: Jackman's veins. Seriously.....I haven't seen shit like that since The Ultimate Warrior (WWF)
BTW, when Mystique was going through Trask's files, were all the Brotherhood wiped out? I recognized the death faces of Azazel & Angel, but there was about 2 or 3 faces before those two that I didn't recognize.
Cannot wait to see this again.

In terms of Quicksilver, I hope Aaron Taylor Johnson delivers, because this was a really good character. Not the definitive version , but a good one.

I'm sure there is some explanation of how the hell Professor X came back after being dissolved by Phoenix in The Last Stand. He somehow projected himself into that comatose patient during the end credits scene. He miraculously shows up at the airport at the end of The Wolverine, much to Logan's astonishment. Cut to this movie and we still learn nothing... and Logan now has the adamantium back on his claws for some reason. We are still in the same timeline as The Wolverine when this new film opens, correct?
Then they intoduce the serum that allows Xavier to walk, but it completely negates his telkenetic abilities. Was this an attempt to explain why we see Xavier walking around just fine well into his fifties (with full abilites) during the flashback in X3? Yeah, the continuity still ain't adding up for me. It's those little things that bug me with this series: Storm's disappearing accent, the complete reinvention of Sabertooth into Liev Schreiber -- not to mention the age gap between Moira and Charles suddenly disappearing in First Class.
Was I underwhelmed with the movie? A bit (the new mutants looked completely stupid). Was it still entertaining? Absoultely. This franchise has seen better days, but this was defintely the least groan inducing chapter since X2.

I liked the movie, but would still rank it behind X2 for sure and maybe X1; I definitely liked it better than first class.

My question is much simpler. While I enjoyed the Quicksilver prison break scenes, why exactly did they have to have Magneto on the team to stop Raven? What was he bringing to the table that was worth the risk of letting him loose? It seems to me that the rest of the movie kind of indicated that was a bad call.
Now, of course,

I loved it too, at least as much as X2 and First Class, and while I don't think X3 was the utter abomination a lot of folks do it's kind of nice to see the reset on some of the poor decisions in that one made.
I give it an A- and while it doesn't bear much resemblance to the original comic I'm pretty happy with it. Not sure yet about X-Men Apocalypse - I hope they don't go the whole "age of " route as two alternate dark future movies in a row would be pushing it.

Well I'm starting to read the two issue arc and had to put it down for a bit. I forgot how much damn exposition they used to cram into every panel, despite having just read the previous issue 2 minutes ago. I get it, Wolverine's claws are made of Adamantium and they can cut through all metals known to man, let's move on.

But then Xavier's hi-tech chair and Logan's hologram-radio seemed to indicate that this was deep into the future
