I think it was the Cinema Sins guy that said he wanted a scene just like that where someone calls her on her bullshit and she kicks his ass anyway.

It's interesting (For those of us who have many movie channels on cable) how HBO only plays the theatrical cut of this while Cinemax plays The Rogue Cut. As was mentioned on (I think) the HD board, the Rogue scenes sure don't add a lot in the extended cut, but I did like the extra turmoil Mystique creates at The X-Mansion.

I didn't care much for it, Star Trek has killed the appeal of time travel to change the future stories for me. I just want to know one thing: was Blink a comic book creation or did someone play too much Portal 2 and decide to make a mutant without the gun?

She's a character from the comics:

Yeah. The concept of characters making portals to jump through is pretty old. Even before Blink. It's nothing new. Neat but not new.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (Singer, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Eh... I'll place this here since it is more appropriate than Dark Phoenix:
With Dark Phoenix opening next week, we chatted with Matthew Vaughn (promoting the Elton John biopic Rocketman) about his original plans for the X-Men: First Class sequels that never came to pass under his direction. How this wouldn’t contradict the Hugh Jackman cameo in First Class is something we didn’t get to address…

ComingSoon.net: If you could have split yourself into two people and still done the “Kingsman” movies but also finished out that “First Class” cycle what would you have done differently?

Matthew Vaughn: That’s one of the reasons I didn’t continue, because they didn’t listen to me. My plan was “First Class,” then second film was new young Wolverine in the 70’s to continue those characters, my version of the X-Men. So you’d really get to know all of them, and my finale was gonna be “Days of Future Past.” That was gonna be my number three where you bring them all… because what’s bigger than bringing in McKellen and Michael and Stewart and James and bringing them all together? When I finished the “Days of Future Past” script with it ready to go I looked at it and said, “I really think it would be fun to cast Tom Hardy or someone as the young Wolverine and then bring it all together at the end.” Fox read “Days of Future Past” and went “Oh, this is too good! We’re doing it now!” And I said, “Well what do you do next? Trust me you’ve got nowhere to go.” Then they did “Apocalypse” and it’s like… If you flip that ’round even it would have been better. Hollywood doesn’t understand pacing. Their executives are driving 100 miles-per-hour looking in the rear-view mirror and not understanding why they crash.

That's just like Warner rushing Batman vs Superman without the buildup.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (Singer, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

I'm confused. Is he saying the second First Class film would just be about a young Tom Hardy as Wolverine having adventures in the 1970s? Or that it would be Wolverine and the X-Men in the 1970s? Because if it's all supposed to be the same timeline, that doesn't make sense. Wolverine met them all for the first time in 2000.

Sounds like a direct sequel starring all the X-men to me. As far as Wolverine being involved, when has the timeline ever mattered in X-Men?

Sounds like it could have been better than what we got. The current films FC, DOFP and Apocalypse abandoned the young cast too soon to bring back the original cast.

I think the point was he was going to essentially make his own version of a trilogy, not restricted to what came before, so Wolverine could've met up with them earlier. And his version of DoFP would've been the finale of the trilogy, incorporating the original actors, not the second film after First Class.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past (Singer, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

I liked First Class, but none of the younger X-Men were that interesting to me. The ending seemed a little too convenient and fast tracked.
I don't blame Fox for doing DOFP next, as it was a great film. I do blame them though for going with Apocalypse righter after it. You have three potential apocalyptic film scenarios back to back. It's too much. Not to mention the horrible portrayal of Apocalypse himself.
Slightly smaller storylines like Genosha or the Cure would have been good, and given the studio a chance to build up to a better another end-of-the-world scenario, either a proper Age of Apocalypse or a redone Dark Phoenix Saga.

Wow, that was closer to reality than I thought. Too bad.
