It's weird that tickets are on sale for some locations but not others.

I was able to snag a pair for Irvine IMAX on Sun 6/2 today, but tickets for AMC CityWalk still aren't available and that's where my friends & I are going opening night. Strange.

The 2014 one opened to $95m and promptly dropped 67% it's second weekend. Not super surprised the second isn't expected to hit those same numbers.

I think the positive WOM will push this one higher, plus I'm not sure how tracking works but I'd imagine many older people who grew up on G, Mothra, etc will want to see their favorite old monsters get the Hollywood treatment.

I looked up the 4 p.m Thursday IMAX show I am going to, and jokingly asked the wife, who has been steadfast in waiting until video to see KOTM, if she wanted to go yet because there were seats still next to me in the theater. I was floored when she said yes, she would go, but to expect her to have the same reactions she did when we went to see Alien on our first date back in the day - claw marks in my arm and not looking at half the movie LOL. My only concession is that I had to move the seats to the third row from the back, but we're still in the middle, so I am good.

I can't believe she caved. I love this woman!

I've got tickets to see it 5/30 at a Cinemark XD in 3D, and then on 6/1 at IMAX where I'll see it with a large group of family members. It's a given that I'll be watching this multiple times in the theater, so I'm going to try in see it in multiple formats. If it's available the following weekend, I'm going to travel out of town to see it in ScreenX. We're fortunate enough to still have a drive-in in our town so I may see it that way. There's also the 4D motion seat theaters I suppose.

The premiere is happening right now and some friends are at it, so I will know in a couple of hours if it's good or not.
