I loved it. It's deeply moving and very spiritual. Anyone who gets up in arms about this movie not being religious enough or biblical enough either hasn't seen it or has their head completely up their own ass. Russell Crowe was tremendous. I was moved to tears several times throughout.
Also, the movie never used the word "god" but "creator" is used over and over and over and is clearly referring to the Judeo-Christian conception of god. I am thinking of checking it out tomorrow afternoon at my nearest IMAX before Winter Soldier gives it the heave-ho on Friday. |

No, I saw it 2D. Might have actually been film! -eek-

The movie is very against my religious beliefs, and removed God from the story! I cannot understand how they could do this.

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
Did you see the film? God is most definitely in it.

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
Just got back from this and it was pretty damn entertaining. It was also very LOTR-esque and I do think Russell Crowe gives a great performance.

I've seen that complaint a few times about taking God out of it, and I'm just curious if we all saw the same movie?

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
My friend saw the film and liked it a lot. I like this paragraph from his review.
On the surface, Noah has some concepts that I found to be awesome. How does one man build a giant wooden ark, serviceable enough to contain every animal and survive a huge flood? He is given help from beings known as “Watchers”. The Watchers are huge stone creatures that were once angels. Here is a way to say that the film is definitely rooted in the fantastical. While the posters want to suggest a dark and gritty Noah movie (which the film technically is), it is not one that is rooted in reality. The visual effects may not be flawless when it comes to showing us two of every creature, but the Watchers are the kind of out-there visual that provides Noah with its own identity, breaking it away from the traditional biblical epic. http://whysoblu.com/noah-movie-review/ |

Just because something is shot digital doesn't mean it can't be projected in 35 mm. But I doubt there are any 35 mm engagements of Noah in that format.

What's confusing? You can transfer digital images to film stock.

I'm assuming the IMAX version of this is just a marketing thing with a new sound mix? Wasn't shot in the format, I don't think. |

Of course you do. You could make it a double feature and go see God's Not Dead as well.
True Detective had a single 90 second scene in it that blasts that movie out of the water in terms of theological debating. |
Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread
I am imagining Noah walking around the Ark looking at all the animals trying to decide what is for dinner.
Chickens look around and notice there are several hundred of them but only two of all other species and realize they are f*cked. Also, people complained when Peter Jackson turned the Hobbit into a trilogy so where is the outrage about Aronofsky taking a story that is practically 6 sentences long and stretching it into a 2 plus hour film? |

I'm going to pass on "God's Not Dead" because it looks horrible. The writers of that movie apparently used religious arguments that 12 year-olds came up with to stump each other. See any of the threads in the Religion/Politics section to see how quickly those same stupid arguments fare in real life.
