It's Aronofsky with a $125m budget, I'll definitely be watching it.

Is he finally shooting digitally with this one? At the very least, it'll be interesting and technically ambitious.

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

Just got out a screening of this. It's indeed extremely ambitious, visual, and quite stunningly constructed. I loved just about everything it had to offer. Aronofsky's interpretations of the story are brave, because they're sure to be met with extreme ire. It's a great movie though. Wonderful characters, huge set pieces, but Aronofsky's talent in creating very intimate moments out of spectacle.

(That's my 4/5 star review up there)

Planning on an IMAX screening tomorrow or Saturday. I feel that's the only way to see a story this epic in nature.

Well the movie is very entertaining, acting is good, visually stunning. It gets you thinking, but as an atheist I just have to question how people believe even 10% of this actually happened.

I'm seeing it on Saturday. Looking forward to it. I don't think Aronofsky's ever disappointed me.

having seen it tonight, there actually is a little bit of that w Emma Watsons character (although obvs not shown)

As an athiest (& never having read the source material), i enjoyed the movie, & for the most part was able to follow it. Although there is kind of unintentional humor out of Anthony Hopkins' character Methuselah being obsessed with finding berries. Also the walking & talking rock creatures too, known as 'the watchers''

Also, semi stupid question, but is this the first time this story has been told on the big screen? outside of the 1928 version

per imdb, it was half and half, some in 35, some digitally. I assume most of the effects heavy stuff was shot digitally

Any movie that's controversial for churches has got to be at least decent. I'm an atheist, but Aronofsky has never really disappointed me ( though I never thought The Fountain was that good, just an interesting exercise).

Re: Noah (Aronofsky, 2014) — The Reviews Thread

looks very epic, I'll definetly watch it...I love the fact, that a stroy told for so many years, will no be able to be seen. When people tell the story it doesn't sound too exciting, because nobody thinks about all the stuff happening. Not enough imagination. I hope in this movie you get an impression of all the struggle that came with it

Probably because 90% of the film isn't even in the Bible according to what I've read. Giant rock monsters, seriously? Sounds like the director started with the Bible and ended up reading Lord of the Rings instead.

Giant rock monsters?

That is so absurd, I wish Aronofsky would have just stuck with the documented truth to tell his story.

The story the movie is based on is goofy, I think Aronofsky wanted to one up it

I thought his wife's name was Joan. She was on Knots Landing and saved France.

It's good to know the Rock Creatures finally found work, after being cut from STAR TREK V back in 1989 due to budgetary concerns.

Still not sure if I want to see this or not. It's Aronofsky, and I like Crowe, but the trailer...meh.

Yea... I just have no desire to see this. Maybe I'll check out that Guy Pierce movie.
