Re: The 86th Annual Academy Awards (2014 Discussion)

I don't know what other films were nominated for animated feature, but I am certain almost all of them were better than Frozen. But Frozen made a bazillion dollars, so no surprises there.

Also, 20 Feet From Stardom over the Act of Killing? The Act of Killing was the best documentary I've seen in years.

It's not a feel-good movie.

Ironically, she's a dead ringer for a young Kim Novak. Hopefully, the future is kinder to her when she ages.

Did I hear she's seeing Sean Penn now? That seems like an odd pair, but good for Sean...

I'm hoping Gravity damn near runs the table. It was the only exceptional movie of 2013 in my opinion.

One for mixing, one for the actual sound effects used.

Lawrence looked relieved she didn't win

And yet the Holocaust documentary won best short subject. Tsk.

The Act of Killing is going to be one of those films people talk about years from now. 20 Feet From Stardom was fun but not amazing.

I know what they are for, I just don't know why they need two awards when they so often go to the same movie. Why can't they just give one like they do for Hair and Make up or Art Direction and Set Decoration?

True, but then the only time people talk about Saving Private Ryan is to say how it was robbed at the Oscars before being reminded that it was actually an awful movie.

Different circles I guess, people still talk about the opening to the movie pretty frequently above all else. I actually haven't seen it all the way through to judge it.

Bill Murray just doesn't give a shit And his shout out to Harold Ramis
